Fortunately I wasn't about to do the whole game, but simply get an idea of what this civ would look like :P
nope just tried it, it's a totaly different galaxy generation now. though there is nothing to say that you can't find a seed like I did, play Amoeba and keep restarting till you find a setup like what I found, I was 2 jumps from my oponent, he was pinned in a corner with no where to go but to the one system between us. a similar layout should be good enough to get the win, once you find it save the seed and restart using your gimped race. good luck
odd, worked fine this try, maybe I was off a number on the seed cause all my other settings were still the same
heh keep your money and enjoy the achievement, I am just supprised anyone found this post after being burried 4 months deep
Now if only someone had a seed with the two hero's needed for Immortal Bard
Oh make sure the game speed is fast and all victory condfitions are off then start the game as you usually do and push the enemy AI back to 1 system or kill him off. Unlock bigger academies as soon as you can and then just sit back and wait for new heroes to pop up (every 10 turns on fast game speed). Took me ~320 turns to get the achievement.
I remember my first tries at this achievement where I rerolled the map for an hour until I got one which was in my favour and even tho I knew the system layout by the time my first colony ship reached the roadblock system (a priority else the AI would colonize into my space by turn 20) at turn 6 or so the AI already had wormhole travel unlocked. My own expansion rate was beyond terrible due to the heavy penalties and I routinely was still struggling to stabilize my empire when the AI would start to crush me.
Reading all the comments I am thinking I m just a bad player :)
Following your advice I was able to get not only "Don't even think about it", but 6 other achievements as well.
For those who have asked - this works with Auriga.
