SOLVED: Screen Resolution Problem
Hi everybody,

I have a new problem with setting the screen resolution in ES an maybe someone has a good idea.

I have been playing ES in fullscreen mode since at least the beginning of the year now with screen resolution for Windows and ES set to 1920x1080. Everything worked perfectly.

Today I got a new higher resolution monitor and windows is now set to 3840x2160. Nothing else changed in my system. My PC should be able to handle this resolution and does so in other games, some of which are quite demanding in the graphics department.

When I start ES in fullscreen mode now, the Amplitude, Iceberg and ES title screens work fine. After the title screen the loading screen and the following menu are suddenly not displayed in fullscreen anymore but in a 4:3 window (probably 1024x768).

I tired this with several resolutions: I tried 3840x2160 (here the game crashes and a small dialog stating "switching to resolution xx failed, trying lower one" appears), 2560x1440 and 1920x1080 (which worked perfectly until today).

I have also tried to lower Window's resolution to 1920x1080, but ES still won't work as before.

I can start the game in windowed mode even in 3840x2160. But when I do so, the mouse works incorrectly. I have to place the cursor below a button to click it...

TL;DR: Does anybody know how to run ES fullscreen with a Windows resolution of 3840x2160 (optimally in this resolution but maybe even in a lower one)? Or alternatively: how do I get an accurate mouse feedback in windowed mode?

Thanks for reading!

Solved all issues by opening the register.xml file in an editor, manually changing the <vsync> value to 1 (previously 2 in my case) and saving the file again.

You ll find it under the \documents\endless space path on your computer. Mine is under C:, might be under \mydocuments

Nevermind. I found a faster and easier solution. I found another discussion and it turns out that all I had to do was change the compatability mode to Windows 7
