Also in fleet menu you have already 3 ships, what you can build - scout, colonize ship and defender. Check this menu and maybe you find this, but if you don't have or you delete colonize ship, build another - always take first ship from the avaible ships, because he can take colonize modul.
If you need to make more you will have a colony ship design saved. Just select the colony ship in your production queue and build it (the system UI has 2 tabs, one for buildings, one for military ships).
If by any means you dont have a colony ship design saved and ready you can make one yourself by going through the following steps.
1. Select NEW
2. pick a hull (one of the available hulls will ve a reduced tonnage bonus for civilian modules)
3. provide a ship name
4. make sure to add at least 1 civilian module
5. save the design
6. select a building system and add 1 colony ship design to the queue
While its possible to add the civilian module to any of your designs only one ship hull will have a massive tonnage reduction for it and the other two CP1 hulls are probably too small to hold even a single module at regular tonnage cost
You will find all the colonization tech in the lower tech tree. They are widely spread but the very first 2 techs already cover Tundra and Arid planets (tier2). You do have autimatic access to tier1 planets which are Jungle, Ocean and Terran
ive got "care taker"
and "workshop"
but there doesnt seem to be any way to display much info about either one of these or their abilities.
how can i tell if they are colonizing ships or not?
also, where would i "select New" from? i dont see this anywhere. ive been playing with tutorials on but i must have somehow skippped this part or something.
you game in dlc Disharmony?
i dont know if i i enabled any sort of extra options reguarding it though if thats neccesary
Colonization ship available to create. Nothing special to learn. left click to move the queue
the cursor pointed, the description of the ship, its purpose.
and in the fleet line, the symbol is the planet with the flag
planet with the flag=if there are planets suitable for colonization in the system
If you simply installed the game Endless Space enables Disharmony by default, to make sure check the lower RIGHT corner on the starting screen and you ll see the version and if you play vanilla or Disharmony
Colony ships have different names depending on the faction you chose but thats really the only difference. The numbers displayed on fleets are used for MP or SP (military or siege power respectively). Colony ships usually have zero in both.
The only thing that makes a colony ship a "colony" ship is the civilian module installed. That module alone eats up a lot of tonnage so there really only is one option under disharmony but larger hulls can fit them too if you want to go that route.
If you are unsure about a ships capabilities you can always go to the design page and click "modify" to get a closer look. Just go through all the tabs and take note of which modules are installed. The colony ship design (Workshop) will only have 1 module...thew civilian mod
Whenever a colony ship enters the orbit of a suitable system and meets certain requirements (at least 1 colonizable planet in the system group, neutral system, not within another factions influence sphere, no hostile fleets in orbit) you will have a special action button unlocked that is only available if the fleet has that module installed.
If you dont mind me asking, what did you do with the original colony ship you started out with?
my scouts are identical to my workshops.
also, for the life of me, i cant find the "modules"
every video i find is for endless space 2, and this part of the tutorial doesnt seem to be there.
i think im just gonna give up guys everything in the game looks the same so progress feels like setting up a checker board for eternity.
thanks for the help.

I usually identify my colony fleets by the numers shown whenever I click on them. With only the civilian module installed they will have 0 across the board, even the scout ships have a small value in military power. If that isnt obvious enough you can also rename the colony fleet to something you can identify readily.
I realize the game can be pretty ovwerwhelming at first. I recommend BrigadierBills beginners guide for Disharmony. It sure eases the entry. If watching videos isnt to your liking dont hesitate to ask questions in here. There are no stupid ones :)
