I was hoping to have a "discussion" of your favorite Superhero Game out there and why it's your favorite and I want to discuss the lack of "good" Superhero Games today 😝

One of my all time favorite Superhero Game has to be Saints Row 4. They absolutely nailed the "power fantasy" of being a Superhero and they also made fun of Superhero games and they still hit it out of the park. I wish they're were more games like SR4 😜

I could go on and on and gush about this game but instead I reccomend you should play this game for yourself, so you can experience one of the best Superhero Games to date.

Mine would have be to one of the spider-man games. Swinging around makes my brain feel good

for me the best super hero game is Megaton Rainfall. I turned on Man of steel ost by Hans Zimmer during my gameplay, and that was beyond anything else https://youtu.be/pr_iywvWdD4

My fave is probably still Batman: Arkham Asylum. There's a strong argument that City was the better game, but for me the tighter focus of the first game made for the most memorable experience.

Insomniac's Spider-Man games are excellent, too. Getting to swing around the city for the first time was awesome. Shout-out to Spider-Man 2 (2004) as well because the swinging in that game was mechanically fantastic.

Ultimate Spider-Man was another kick ass Spidey title. Loved playing as Venom.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was made at a time when licensed games were typically terrible and was far better than anyone expected. A lot of fun.

The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was another one I had a blast playing. Using cars as boxing gloves was so cool at the time.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was a bit underrated, I think. Solid gameplay, but where is shone was the character dynamics and writing.

Injustice 2, because punching Superman in the face is never not fun.

Oh, and Batman Returns on the SNES.

I don't think there's a real lack of good superhero games around. We've got quite a few good ones. With that said, I was always baffled that Marvel didn't really push games when the MCU was doing so well. You'd think they'd want to capitalise on their success. Likewise, the Batman games being dead for nearly a decade while Rocksteady worked on Suicide Squad was a huge letdown.

This is a strong contender, though it somewhat toes the line for "superhero game," given your characters' powers are more like low-tier ESP than classic superheroes. There are like three of them whose primary power is "Shoot Gun" for instance. Great game though.

Freedom Force was a nice set of games.

Arkham Batman games were mostly good but a distinctly different feel.

The mostly dead-on-arrival Marvels Avengers wannabe MMO had surprisingly good combat and several of the characters were fun to play, but it was ruined by a miserable campaign, the other characters handling like garbage, and skin-deep RPG mechanics that were just a pointless grind.

I think Midnight Suns was a lot better than it was given credit for. But I also understand the character building and all of the social stuff can be tedious and not up everyones alley

I'm going to second that. Freedom Force was an absolute gem.

Both are different enough from typical capeshit, Saints Row 4 by virtue of being parody, while Troubleshooter by being from Korean company relatively untained by DC and Marvell influence.

I dont have a favorite superhero game. I must say since I am a huge superhero fan and I love every series or movie with superheroes, Superhero games mostly dont work for me. They mostly are boring and brings few to nothing new. But I hope this one is different. Since its a original Universe I have high hopes for it.

Freedom Force / Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich - The quintessential party-based superhero RPG with Golden Age heroes. Great characters w/back stories, "solid" overall plot/story to run through, and endless customization to create your own heroes, scenarios, or full campaigns.

It's an older game (from 2002-2004) and it's a damn shame they only made the original and a sequel. They could have easily cornered the market on super-hero RPG's over the next decade if they had kept up with the series and brought it into the Silver and modern ages.

The community that cropped up around the game 22 years ago is still alive and kicking: https://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php

Warning: Do NOT buy the original game on Steam. It simply doesn't work, and Valve has refused to update the game files. Get it from GoG. FFvTTR, however, does appear to work fine with Steam. (I'd probably still get it from GoG, though.)

The Injustice games and Midnight Suns are probably my favourites.
I'm not that much of a super hero fan generally, I don't care for any game where you can only play as a single super hero unless you can develop your own.

I have played some other games here and there too, and I tend to prefer either fighters or where you control a team of super heroes that you can switch out.

I'd really like to see something between X-COM and Midnight Suns where you get to create and customise your own team of super heroes, develop their powers, name them and all, maybe give each a weakness too, their kryptonite so to speak.
And that they can actually die.
