Cannot connect / start game
So: I have googled this issue and have not any salvation yet.
I downloaded the game a few hours ago and have already sent my bug report, but that hasn't helped my immediate situation. Anyhow.

My first issue is that I can hardly start the game - I get the "app already running" error, even if I've just started up steam. Again, google this but to no avail. I'm counting on links for this one.

Second issue is, that I get an error message - Login failed, cannot connect to server, please submit an error report, your internet might not be working, etc.

Fact is, my internet is stable. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the game servers or is it something on my end. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Not sure it'll help your problem or not. But while you wait for a reply on your ticket go ahead and check out this post.

I've heard this helps with some people. A good .ini cleanout never hurts and might be what is needed. Give it a try and let me know if that helps in any way.

Never been able to play this game yet, same "unable to connect to server" issue. Running Windows 8.1 and I certainly do have an internet connection.

Go ahead and try setting the game to run in Admin Mode as well as in Windows 7 Compatibility mode. Let me know if that helps.

bump, same issue here. is it a windows 8.1 issue, anyone with 8.1 able to play? My son is playing the game on the same connection right next to me on win 7 so not a connection issue....

For "app already running," a reboot should fix that, or else you could use Task Manager to kill loadout.exe. (That's safe to do.)

For the connection problems, the most common fix is to add an exception for loadout.exe to your software firewall. Sometimes, this is also necessary to do on your anti-virus software, since some AV software does firewall stuff.

Solved the connection issue, had to make sure that the date and time matched the region that I was connecting from.

Could you try setting it to the wrong time/date, to see if that makes it stop working? I'm wondering if that was a coincidence, or if that was really the cause.

Either way, I'm glad you got it working.

Hey Rob,

I was able to test this and the connection error did recur for me. To reproduce this I moved the windows date to the 1st of Feb, 2014. Upon attempting to start the game I recieved an error message that i was not connected to the internet. I'm currently running on Windows 8.1 64 bit. The game is installed on my C drive in the standard steam folder.

Let me know if you have any questions,
-Tom
