When you add up all the changes, there is little 'new' content outside of building options, just significant grind factor, and they still haven't fixed the sharks that can teleport through walls and the overpowered enemy.
They have:
1) Increased resources needed for most tasks (grind/squeeze);
2) Reduced the ability to store resources for the tasks (grind/squeeze);
3) Overly complicated recipes like firearm manufacture (grind);
4) Not fixed several repeatedly raised issues;
If they had just added the building options and fixed some more bugs most people would have been appreciative of the update. My real concern is the decision process that led to these changes. Think about the storage size changes, how did they think that would work unless they are utterly abandoning all prior saved games? Perhaps all the work done by all players so far is about to be thrown away and they just haven't had the integrity to tell us yet...
I will wait until the patch is fully released but if the storage changes and resource issues stay, I will have to change my previous recommendation to "Don't buy and check back in 6 months". Disappointing.
Some cloth and oil, maybe a tool or two.
Main problem is the gunpart frequenz. Don´t want to spent that much resources and getting a scrap gun.
The overall feels wrong, the amount of wood to burn the ironbars, needing so many iron you normally build a base off, that feels absolutly wrong for me.
Maybe, but new players wont know any better so eventually there will only be people who don't mind or think it's normal and wont mind.
It's only the ones who are used to the old ways who will be vocal for a while and they already have their money.
While I neither like it or support it I do admit it's EA and entirely within their rights to do it. Just depends how much attitude they have as to whether they accept the critical comments and revert or dig in and deny.
A beef I have though, I farmed a few islands and PoI for blueprints and still haven't found the bloody crossbow. No major prob with mats, but only found blueprints about wallpaper, flooring, furniture... The functional/progression ones elude me badly. Radio island with a bow wasn't fun, and I don't quite dare go further without better weaponry : |
And from other comments, I'm not sure my 2 chests of weapon parts will let me do anything useful...
I wouldn't say it's hard to find, but you also have to smelt it, at 3 times the wood cost now.
Finding the stuff isn't the only aspect, you have to bring back the stuff home with reduced storing capacity across the board, and process it at increased costs too, be it in the mats for the buildings or the process itself.
