Roof impossible to build
I'm trying to build a roof. I put pillars down and some roof parts snap into place, some fight me all the way until I find the one pixel where it snaps in and some parts won't connect at all. Especially if I got roof parts left and right and I want to put one in the middle of them both. Building still is pretty horrible. And why do I have to have pillars on every corner to have a roof on top?

I had the same problem. The building is definitely pretty poor when it comes to roofs.

I built a ladder to get up to the roof to see if a different angle would work. It didn't.

I found that it was often possible to place a roof piece where there already was a roof piece, which creates flickering interference between the pieces.

I tried placing floor pieces instead of roof pieces. Didn't work.

I had pillars where required, but then I placed pillars everywhere. Every corner of every foundation piece. Even the ones where the game had allowed me to place a roof piece. Didn't work.

I eventually got the roof up by quitting and reloading several times, each time trying to place the remaining roof pieces that the game wouldn't allow me to place. It eventually worked. I have no idea why.

You can demolish the pillars afterwards with no effect other than wasting some scrap iron (which is abundant, so that doesn't matter). I leave the ones in the walls just because I think it looks better.

Remember, you have to place pillars in the walls also. 4 points are needed to build a roof. Then when it's up, you can use the hammer to remove the inside pillars.

Build another metal floor for your roof and then use the floor tiles (european) you get from the trader to seal it and not let light in.

That's a good idea. I prefer the shape of the roof sections for a roof, but they are full of holes and don't fit together well. Looks like I'll be rebuilding the roof again tomorrow :)

I want the wooden floor tiles for my floor, but I haven't found the blueprint. I saw them in someone's base in a video on Youtube and thought they looked much better for a floor than the European tiles did.

The trader lady sells blueprints. You'll have to check her for them also. Oh. And she must be into bondage or something because she really likes rope. lol

They only sell a handful of blueprints, which never change. You will never be able to buy any flooring blueprint other than the European tiles one.

could not find reinforced floor, just the ole scrap metal ones, is it a blueprint special to that one item, the scrap metal floor looks rather crummy with the reinforced walls and windows..ideas

Reinforced floor doesn't exist yet. No idea why it's not in with the other reinforced building pieces, but it isn't. There is no blueprint for it.

You can apply tiles to a scrap metal floor, but it only covers the top surface so it's not good if you're using floor pieces as a roof. Better than nothing (it covers the holes), but not good.

As well as that, the only guaranteed floor tile blueprint is the European style one from the trader. Which looks like coarse pottery tiles. I think it looks OK on a roof, but that's all.

Agreed. I think most people use floor pieces for roofs instead of the roof pieces.
