Ore locations procedural or placed?

How is the ore placed on the map? I am attempting to find copper at the Amusement Park using the detector which points to the ore being under or in a structure., I found and mined the iron ore, but unable to reach the copper. Is there another neutral or low level location for copper?

I couldn't state a location but I can comment that there are at least a few locations with higher tier enemies where you can easily get to nodes just by being sneaky. Tough enemies only matter once they see you. I am unsure which node got a visual upgrade but there is at least one that no longer looks like it used to and it is now more stuck on the sides of rocks like an ugly limpet. Blends in quite a bit more than it used to so it's much harder to see.

The ore is placed, it's always the same. I could tell you how to get loads of copper at low levels but it's kind of a spoiler.

At the nuclear power plant there are like 7 nodes on the shore, you can get them without enemies attacking you but you will have to get a cure for the radiation from the trader afterwards.

Speaking of traders, the guy that gives you contracts sometimes has a contract called "loads of copper", where he offers you 20 for 5 silver coins. That's a good deal early game so keep an eye on those contracts.

At the amusement park, that building has an opening near the top, then you can go down 3 or 4 levels to where the ore is. there are several, maybe up to 6 at that level. However, you will need light to find them. Doing it without light is possible, but difficult, and you will miss stuff. Same goes for the ship wreck. Going inside, use light. you will find tons more stuff that way.
Flares will work, but you throw them, so you might want to make the headlamp.

I found the iron node on castaway and it has not respawned, but got me started. Only need one copper node to make a headlamp which enable diving in dark,

I was afraid of that, I was hoping for a breadcrumb to enable a headlamp for further diving. And here I though rubber was a ♥♥♥♥♥. Guess I'll trash contracts till copper appears cause dying over and over in the dark in this iteration is not fun and no compelling reason to endure for the experience or the story.

It should respawn eventually but it seemed to take quite a few days on my 0.5.X game before it did. There are many other places for iron, and quite a few for copper. You just have to explore different areas and you will find it.

Yeah, it looks different now. It's a grey rock with a red-orange tint running through it. Copper looks... well, it really looks like it's brown now. Once you see them you'll be able to easily tell the difference.
