my system is a bit older, but things were running just fine...
i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz -- 32 gig ram -- Nvidia GTX 1050
really just can't play anymore as frame rate is 10-14 from 50 - 60 FPS...
Hope this gets worked out... but thanks to the Devs for an awesome game!!!
also, would, (or could) a 'new game start" fix the fps drop?
BUT! Yesterday morning, during the night (in game), I was waiting for 0411 to arrive (because for some reason I can't sleep in my bed anymore, it always says "it's not bedtime," no matter what time I check it) and watching the northern lights stutter across the sky--when they smoothed out. I moused around--smooth, no stutters. The ocean undulated smoothly without interruption. Yes! The stutters were gone! I went to the car parked on Castaway Island and scavenged it for steel--for the billionth time, because it had always instantly respawned over and over and over. This time--it went away and stayed away. Same with all the rest of the loot that previously had instantly respawned--it now wasn't doing that. So for the day I cruised the smooth seas stutter free, wandering joyously around Dreadville, scavenging things that didn't instantly respawn, enjoying the same smooth-as-glass framerate experience I had enjoyed before the hotfix.
But! That lasted about an hour. Suddenly, boom, just like that, the night slideshow began. So I checked for the car on Castaway Island--it was back. Scavenged it, and it instantly respawned, over and over. So, there is a relationship between the occurrence of instant-respawning and the stuttering gameplay. I'm not saying one causes the other, just that they are either absent together or present together. But that suggests it's a game issue and not a computer issue, for why would my computer cause the instant loot respawning that so many others have noted?
Since the stuttering went away for an hour, that means it *can* go away/be fixed, and expect it will for good eventually. Meanwhile, I love the game enough to play it even with the stutters, PITA it can sometimes be in certain situations.
i was wondering if the 'respawn' issue is actually constantly cycling over and over in the game code, thus leading to an extra 'math' load for ANY system..... just a thought :-)
