Where the heck is the ore?

Ok i give up, i've spent a day in game exploring, trying the pickaxe on everything that looks like ore, but i can't find any anywhere, what am i missing? What does it look like and where can i find it?

The places that have it are:
1) Radio Island
2) Rubber Duck Island
3) Green Isle
These are not all the places, they just have high concentrations of it.

There are several different ores with different appearances. Copper, Iron, and Sulphur appear as different colored boulders on islands and on the ocean bottom. Here is what Copper (left) and Iron (right) look like:

Sulphur boulders are bright yellow. They can be found in abundance on the ocean bottom near the volcano. When you approach a harvestable ore boulder, the pickaxe icon will appear. Do yourself a favor and craft or invest in an ore detector, although once you learn the typical locations you won't need it - just revisit the same spots whenever they respawn.

Edit: There is also a good bit of copper and iron at Clifton Outpost, but be prepared to fight for it.

Take your loot, sell to trader for coins until you have enough for detector and battery, dive the lava biome using detector. Set to iron, copper or sulphur, found all three. Helps to have air tank and lung booster.

Thanks for the hints. this has changed from version 0.1. In the earlier version, if I swam around long enough, I'd find the ore. But in the updated version haven't found any yet. I just got the ore detector, but it shows the infinity symbol

It is out there near POIs. Just keep an eye open.

there is a lot on radio island.
After first wood wall jump up the rocks/mountain on right side.
There you will find a lot iron and cooper - ready to mine...

thanks for the tips guys, i bought the ore detector and battery, and found some ore!

You can find a fair amount of sulphur near the school ( a bit east of the trading post) but be aware that there's a shark in the area that you may have to deal with, there's iron ore on an island southwest of castaway isalnd, almost near the bottom of the map. It's called small rock island, and you'll find about 6 or 8 iron nodes there. You'll also find some lemons on that island, and you can hunt some turtles for meat, on the south side of the island you'll find some underwater shipping containers with random loot (often blueprints). I keep forgetting where I first found copper though, might have been the machine factory?
