But you can catch a lot of crabs now on the starter island.
The big fishnet doesn`t require any bait to use it.
Grow food, like same strawberries, get strawberries AND plant debris/vegetable scraps.
Build a box, fill it with those debris/scraps(altho general non-canned food should be acceptable as well) and it would slowly generate worms, gradually consuming those scraps.
I would even go further and allow enemy bodies to be peaceable in those bins. Altho that would come with severe progressive penalties, so should be built far away.
I would also add shovel and require dirt for building of some building(and occasional "refueling") like same planters. Digging up dirt would very rarely generate worms as well. Ground around those parts would not be particularly suitable for large population of worms, too much moisture. But building dedicated worm farm could generate a decent flow of worms for fishing.
Shovel also could be used to dig up stashes, coordinates you could get from corpses. Would make game more dynamic, unpredictable and interesting.
