The developer AND the game both say if you want to keep your current save just play the correct branch.
Bit confused because how would you know what the full price is going to be when it`s finished ? EA titles are always lower priced than the released version.

Edit: Also with the Beta, which is likely what they might be playing too, you cannot backtrack, so you really can't go back a version with it.
