After Update I can't play my saved world
I updated the game, and now I can't play my saved game after 120 hours of playing.
Do I have to start a new world again? Is there a way to continue playing, even with the old version?

The newest update is not compatible with your old saves, If you want to keep playing it, you will need to switch to the older version in the Properties>Betas>"olderversion" branch.

Are the old beta saves compatable with this update?

The Dev's said: Yes -- old beta is now release (in other threads in the past)

Any chance of a savefile converter any time soon?

Bye bye 152 hrs of my time. I would like to say it is well spent however it appears not to be the case. Good game unfortunately losing progress like this is extremely irritating to put it mildly. I won't be reinstalling as this will likely happen again during the next fix/update.

Why are people upset with not being able to use an old save with an EARLY ACCESS GAME? It is early access people, this happens. We are lucky it hasn't happened more. In fact, we are lucky that we have the ability to roll back the version to keep playing our saves as not every early access game gives us that ability.

In every early access game I play, I see comments like this. It drives me crazy. When you purchase an early access game there is a warning from Steam telling you what early access involves.

It always surprises me how people are not able to just read the post that goes with the update as well as all the previous warnings and how to resolve this simple issue by using the old branch. Just sheer amazement. Idiocracy is a thing.

I mean, posting on the steam forum takes even more time than reading the dev's post. I just can't comprehend this.

there's no way in the world am going to repeat everything. it's a fun game don't get me wrong. but it's not that kind of fun game that you would play twice from scratch. most of survival are. May be if your develop team got enough cells in their tiny brain they would understand

Says the guy whose 2 brain cells can't manage to meet up long enough to understand what Early access mean (Spoiler alert : it's written everywhere).

Heck you didn't even read the other replies stating you can actually still play the 0.15, it's so much easier to whine pointlessly, eh ?

It might have been compatible with an old save if all they did was add the new assets. I think the main reason is because of the radical changes to the map. Lots of areas are deeper than they used to be and with adding new islands and lava flows just where do you think your old base will be when you start the new game? Probably underwater somewhere or stuck in the middle of rocks.

because it is a base building game, clearly (like the developers) you have zero understanding of this, people love to sink hundreds of hours into these games and set up cool bases

It's.
Written.
FREAKING.
EVERYWHERE.

EARLY. FREAKING. ACCESS.

On the steam page, right around the Buy button.
In the news.
On the forum, in multiple places.
On the very first screen when you launch the game.

Go back to primary school and learn to read.
Your refusal to read all the warnings doesn't invalidate them.

I can read numb nuts, clearly you can't . I am not defending the guy who could not read the warnings, I did but was pissed to find them at any rate, I don't want to play the whole game over 3 times which is now what I will have to do after EVERY SINGLE ISLAND (bar 2) moved in yesterdays update.

What's in the current version.
"Build bases"
"defend bases"

etc etc.

nowhere does it say that yesterdays update will swallow your base and it will now be inaccessible as it is buried inside Radio Island.
The whole point of the "base building" game is to do just that, build bases.
