Making a gun - am I missing something
So playing the latest offering and I remember before you made a gun tab, found an old gun, gun parts and some stuff and you made a gun

I've looted a bunch of gun stuff like barrels and magazines and sights and I built an advanced gun table (and it looks like it needs power) but I don't see how I can build a gun but I also can't find a gun table to build except a black powder gun table.

Did I miss something?

Gotta research advanced weapons bench, then put all the broken guns into the recycler built into the weapons bench. After many broken guns you get enough parts to make a pistol, smg, rifle or sniper rifle. The parts you use affect weapons damage per shot, so a scrap receiver lowest tier with cast iron, fine iron alloy and high tech in ascending order. Barrel, receiver, stock and magazine have tiers. One sniper mag has armor penetrating rounds, its sweet on a svd.
Just setup barrels to store the parts for scrapping at dreadville, best done in large amounts as a value of 200 is need for a single upgraded oart.
Raids alone generated enough for first black powder, then raid weakest islands collect parts and leverage up.

Pretty sure breaking down broken guns gives parts for the type of gun involved...

I ran a stack and a half of broken mausers in the recycler and got back parts for mausers; at least.

Thanks - follow up question: does the advanced gun bench need power? I haven't research tier 4 on the research bench but I am assuming the gun bench needs power b/c it has a wire part?
Thanks again, I saw advanced gun bench and I thought there was a regular gun bench lol

Well the table just changed quite a bit. Scratch all that.
It does need power, for the recycling part. The gun assembly part doesn't need power.

Cool and good deal, thanks!

Yep, power needed. I group generator, basic recycler, weapon bench and other stations needing power, Generator is loud, which is why I don't run lights, but the new lights added might improve my response during night attacks.

now all i get is blueprints for scrap parts.
fmj556mm Jan 27, 2024 @ 6:04pm
ALL of that has changed. You only get blueprints from recycling broken guns, prints are not associated with the broken gun that I'v noticed since I only get the same 5 or 6 blueprints over and over and over...
Not finding decent actual parts renders the other station found in a POI useless as it would take 50 or so blueprints to create a single "Random" item...

Old system was broken ... this new system is still broken ....

Day 176 of this play through and I've managed to build a single mid tier gun...

Maybe it's just not possible? They could be dangling this in front of everyones face just to get sales. I've only ever heard of one gun being created in all of these community discussions, and that person could just be lying.

I think it's time to consider the conspiracy angle. Who's with me?

Wow. So much wrong.

You CAN get parts from the firearms table's recycler.
BP ARE derived from the recycled gun (just, from my limited tests, it varies per gun but no advanced parts BP)
The parts recycler on Dreadville is still as important to try and get the better parts. A BP has the same value as the part.

If anything, this system lets you get access to the lower-tier guns more easily, but still takes luck and grind for the higher-tier ones. Plus, having a part BP lets you craft it, so you can dump resources in that to feed the recycler at Dreadville.

Well, bloody hell, it's all changed to a blueprint driven instead of part, then once you get blue print its 3d printer at trader. At least that is what I figured out so far.

Gonna test that soon, sadly only got blue prints recycling two broken weapons, good news i can craft scrap for deadville to see what I can get.

For reference, out of 20 recycled broken double-barrelled shotguns, I got 5 parts

Nope Still broken...

I have over 100 BP's to recycle at Dread, not one is worth the part value. Value for the top tier Desert Eagle Barrel is 10 points, the actual barrel is now 120 when it used to be 200...BROKEN

I turned base attacks off, spent 5/6 in game days looting broken gun parts, flagged Dread and built storage, a genny and weapons bench there and I will admit, after putting over 100 broken guns through the table last night i got.....drum roll.....3 total gun parts, one decent BP and a mix of 12 or so low level bp's...BROKEN

If your games RNG drops more parts for you, good for you.
The randomness in my game is overwhelmingly hogwash.

Lets not even go into not being able to swap out parts on an existing weapon...(possible that as usual the Dev's have never owned a firearm?)
Mortbise Jan 28, 2024 @ 5:42am
Yeah... I'm calling bull on that one. Even when I recycled a stack of 20 shotguns (the crappy ones, not the double barreled), I got enough to run the recycler once, with BP worth 3 to 12 points.

There's a difference between "broken" and "I don't like it". I'm not too fond of this mechanic but I don't go around saying "WAAAAH ITZ BROKNE".

And, day 176 and Dreadville not flagged ? Yeaaaaaah right, nice little story you're weaving here.
Tumbling Dice Jan 28, 2024 @ 1:39pm
I'm seeing the disparities now, value of an object is not consistent with game play effort for example a gun part recycled currently yields a iron ingot plus change. The effort to obtain an iron ingot involves travel to an island, mining, returning, that kills the daylight, gathering wood (even if on hand time was spent), then manning the furnace. I hope once blueprint placement is worked out base values needs review.
