2) Yes, by planing your flag on a suitably pacified location
* Careful, removing a flag does not appear to "un-claim" a location for enemies' return
A conquered world, free of all enemies, get's boring in a hurry - but I HAD to do it once.

3) There is no "best" island without some other criteria being considered:
* Do you want better/difference resources
* Do you want a more central location
* Do you want somewhere to "get away from it all"
* Are you building your very own post-apocalyptic mansion
* Are you building a permanent base, or just a forward-operating position
The "best" island (after the one that _I_ am on, of course) is up to the new ownership...
Plenty of room, interesting terrain, and shear cliffs on the East(?) side for easier defense.
A little ol' .50 cal machine gun, and you can cover a lot of approaches up the island slopes.
Um, it's in the ocean, surrounded on all sides by water? :P
This is, currently, one of the easternmost islands in the game.
Almost directly east of the Amuzement (sic) park...
If you are taking a motorized transport, you should bring some extra gas (just in case).
It's a LONG swim back if you get lost and run outta gas.
