Had a question about servers

Im interested in picking this game up, but can you create private servers for yourself, or yourself and friends, to play on....i have heard rumors going around in the various steam chat forums that people, mainly cheaters, can enter your server and grief kill you or destroy everything you have created while you are online or offline, and you cannot do anything about it due to the server not being private and its open to the public. Is this true, if it is, has this been address or fixed, or is in the process of being fixed? Thanks.

you could possible put a password? My friends hosts the server and he puts a password and when he leaves the session it basically closes the server aswell. Never seen anyone join our session.

You can also set the server size to exactly how many people are on the server. That might help as well.

Interesting. That is what my friend and I have done for valheim, and we have no issues either. Im wondering why people are not using passwords for their server (worlds)...or is being able to do that a new thing on the most recent update? So many people have been complaining about unknown people or hackers jumping into their servers and destroying thins...it has me thinking how that is possible when people could just use passwords to secure their server (worlds)?

Password,private and player limit set to 4 and a fifth person joined and ran across water and destroyed everything.Thats why peeps are pissed.

there solution in the latest patch was make it tell you when some one joins so you can alt f4 and close the game or open console and kick.Put it on you instead of fixing

i see. can they even fix the issue? or willing to even? How big is the dev team, super small like it is for valheim?

You host the server so only when your on but when it happened 2 of us afked for a sec.I came back to late everthing gone.This is the second time first time was my son and his friends game that got destroyed

are the devs even looking into this massive problem? how long has it being on? did the recent update create this issue or has it been going on since launch?

since launch.They just say alt f4 and now they added the join and console kick.They dont directly answer the question.
