AND YES .. I tried to put them into the slots (both)
Try the component item, that should give you glass and a iron ingot.
The Recycler must be connected to your (running) generator to work.
* Have (at least 1) Rubber on-hand
* Hover over Recycler, then press 'C'
* Click over Recycler
* Click over an open "outlet" on the Generator (there are a total of 4/generator)
Note: The wire will turn green when hovering over an open "outlet", click then.
The Recycler should now be wired.
* Fuel (with Gasoline), then Turn on your generator
* Hover over Recycler, and press 'F' to decompose an item
* Place the item in the top-most Recycler inventory slot
* Press the "Recycle" icon (under the Recycler "slot")
* Collect your carbon-offset credits :P
Not everything can be recycled...
