Tips for new players

--------- Useful items (roughly in order) to go for:

- Barrels (storage that only costs metal)

- Diving Fins ASAP (craft a wood spear and kill marlins -- don't chase them too much since they follow a set path, just stab them then wait for them to come back around to get them again)

- Sack and backpack upgrades ASAP

- Gasoline powered boat (it runs a really long time and is really fuel efficient. 20 fuel turns into about 35 minutes, the boat is fast, has storage, doesn't consume anything while idle, and lets you snipe enemies easily from the water if you want)

- Reddot sight (trade from the floating shop near the starter island) which lets all your weapons hit enemies further away

--------- Useful Structures to build early on:

- Furnaces (I build 3 to make smelting ore go faster)

- Workbench (to research items)

- Gun and Ammo workbenches (it's really easy to repair broken guns you find)

--------- Other tips:

- my favorite early game gun is flintlock pistol which you can buy from the floating shop. I also like the homemade revolver since you can make it early and cheaply from components and iron ingots, it fires six shots, reloads fast, and uses the same black powder ammo as the flintlock pistol

- you can harvest any scavengable object to 90%, save/quit/reload, and it will respawn full. This works on everything from tires (rubber), tool chests (components), dryers (cloth), to even things like safes (for valuable objects like rings and wine to sell for stuff to the shop). If you like to farm stuff this is a good way to do it.

- A good farming location for scrap and rubber is radio island (east of starter island). A good location for food and valuable tradable objects is the top floor of stormborn outpost (SW of starter island).

- Trees slowly respawn but if you like how they look you can leave the ones on your island alone and go to other islands. There is a lot more wood in the game than you will usually ever be able to use. I just take a boat and farm up then head back whenever I run out.

- Branches, crabs, strawberries, mushrooms, ores, etc. all slowly respawn too

- Enemies that you kill do not seem to respawn, so once you clear a place you can safely build or explore there any time. Sometimes I'll build a foundation and a few barrels next to a nice spot if it has things I want to harvest with the save/reload method.

u forgot the most important, for me it was just how hard the raids were, my god i had set to high and i was in ww3, fighting and rebuilding, so there is a setting i didn`t know about that , u can modified the raids u get, life saver after being rape,bullied, killed like over 100 times, etc, so happy i look it up, got mine set to no raids for now until i get set up, then slap it back on. raids are fun, could of slap it to low, i might

next one is make at least 4 box with the strawberry seeds u find, they go up so fast, they provide water and food, so 6+ is super sweet as u will survived for a long time

3rd one is go left or right with a spear for sharks, when they get closer to u, they will turn, the hammer sharks are tougher, same routine

if u love being raided and want a safe spot the trader roof, the bandit can`t climb.. yet and u can spear bandit under water, the 2nd u go for air u are dead if to close to them

I would recommend just getting the first paddle boat and while driving it, looking down at your seat and smashing Push Boat to move fast. You can even turn while doing this, I personally use the map to direct myself instead of looking up.

i didn`t even bother with the paddleboat, just bypass it and go to sailboat, i think most did that?, i had the powered boat and a bunch of gas tanks brought it to 13.5 and it was ok, not bad if u live in the middle of map, only thing the bandit were shooting all over and blew up the boat with 5 gas tank in it, until i realised they kill it, anyway power boat was fun going to 100-110 speed, compared to 55-85 wind

Yeah. Strawberries are ok. I just have so much food once I'm an hour in that I don't even pick it up anymore because inventory space and w/e I'm farming is more important to me. Personally I do have three Strawberry planters though and I use them every time I respawn or sleep for a quick top-off haha. I love how convenient they are

Raids are terrible. They come too early and you can't build a good base fast enough to keep them from nuking your stuff. I've seen streamers build platforms without walls. I'm sure they learned the hard away not to do that. Enclosure is the key to any base you build in any game.

don`t need walls if u got raids turn off until u are set a bit better, i was wondering the same

You have to start building somewhere. The first raids are mutants. You can deal with them without walls.

Not when you're out and about and you get a message that you're being raided. Say goodbye to your things.

More important for me is the scrap metal spear before the first raid so I want bed, fire, purifier, garden plots and research table. Did a little test run last night (to see what tier knee pads are) and they came at night before I had doors. They were no problem. I would've had doors first thing in the morning. Would've been a quick trip to the edge of Apartments and back. I may have had damage but doubt if I would've lost anything that close.

My guess is exploring for content instead of playing for content and/or distracted by chat if they have an active one.

Sit in drivers seat, aim in the direction you want to go. Look for the P to push and mash the P button, enjoy your 300kmh sailboat.
