Hello and thank you for trying out 'A Quest That Became Legend.' I think creating a party with one of each class is ideal for a first playthrough. If you have completed the Gobbling Cave quest, I would recommend doing the side quest given to you by the healer in the starting village. After this, follow the main quest and enter the forest to take care of the wolves. The choice of skills and spells depends on your playstyle, but having something that can hit multiple enemies is always a good thing

In the starting town there is a magic trainer. There is also a vendor for spells.
It's really a case of wandering around and saving a lot. F5/F8(?) and seeing what you can take on. If I feel a fight is too tough I just reload.
Potions are awesome. I just dropped 14 enemies in one fight but needed 8 potions to do it so I think I walked into something a bit above my level really. That's what you are doing with the skellies. They aren't easy. There are a good number of groups of 4 and 5 enemies around but they are mixed with a fair number of huge groups hence the trial and error save/load I suggest.

Basically the top area of the map and the two caves are starting areas and then I went down the West path to the hunters shack and a little further South.

There is a trader in the town with some equipment and but enemies drop better gear.

Stuff doesn't respawn so you can't really go anywhere to grind out a couple of levels. Just gotta explore. It gets easier with gear and levels but I don't have any improved spells yet, just the basic ones. The Y key brings up your skill tree and there are some there that really help but I think there are also some there that would be a poor choice early on so be careful. Make sure when you pick your first ones you also pay attention to the ones it leads on to.

Good luck.

@HARDENTH60 I would advise you to follow the main questline further before going to the crypts. You should probably not descend into the crypts before completing the main quest called 'Blessings Of Micirida'

I went South. Just below the second town. I tried another area but they were insanely high level and this Southern zone has the teleporter quest. The mobs are easier than the crypt.

I'm using 2 warriors, a shaman and a sorcerer. Find choke points where possible to stand in, or lure groups into a corner so you can't be surrounded - this game's physics engine doesn't allow enemies to stack on top of each other so you can effectively block out large groups of enemies while you deal with 1 to 3 at a time. One of my warriors is sword and board with high constitution and defense so I taunt with him which keeps most enemies under control. In the meantime warrior's AoE arcane attack plus Fire Wall for sorcerer really helps whittle down enemies. The developer recommends 1 of each class for first playthrough - I don't know if I fully agree with that yet but I'm only level 14. So far, I have found that having 2 warriors is highly optimized because Taunt is on a 3 round cooldown, and which means having 2 warriors I can have Taunt running all the time. I am seeing a lot of gear with resistances to elements which will help offset damage from magic enemies that Taunt won't take care of.

I also focused on getting my Speed to 50 for everyone by level 9 or 10. The extra action point from having Speed at 50 is massive and I can almost assure you far outweighs the DPS increases from core stats i.e. intelligence for sorcerer, strength for warrior, etc. At level 10 I have been clearing the swarms of undead in the graveyard - like 10-12 mobs at once without that much trouble, and no deaths.

Developer is giving you good advice with going to complete the Blessings main quest as a good barometer before attempting to fight undead in the crypts/graveyard. The game will tell you pretty clearly if you are underleveled, and your first reaction should be to explore a new area instead and see if you can find enemies that are easier to fight.

@Jordan: have you run into issues being able to equip the stronger gear when you dump so many points into speed? I prioritize it too, but it's only getting 1/3 of my points in most cases.

I like this game but it's stupid hard. It doesn't matter how strong you are when 50 monsters gang up on you. There is no respawn so you can't gain exp. without going to places where the monsters have insane HP. I really like the game but i'm growing really tired of dying all the time.

If you find it overwhelmingly hard, you might be in an area your party is not yet strong enough to handle. Is there a specific place you are having trouble with? And what difficulty are you playing on? If you haven't already, you could switch to easy. This can be done in-game and can be changed as you please.

I'm playing easy but the mobs are too big. I've cleared out all the first three or four zones but when your faced with four wyverns and three to five manticores at once it doesn't make a difference if your on easy or not. For example, when you go into the dwarf caves. The first encounter you have has like 20 monsters at once. I really like this game but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Okay, I'm glad you like the game. And I can understand that it can be frustrating if it gets too difficult. if you're in the wyvern area of Lurala, I'm guessing you've reached the main quest about obtaining silver from the mine, right? By this point, you should have cleared out all of Micirida and Etyrial, and some of Rasunda and the previous part of Lurala, along with completing all the side quests related to these areas. If not, you can do that to gather more experience. You should also have access to 3rd level spells. Using "Broken Wings" on the wyverns forces them to land, forcing them to move towards you instead of attacking from afar. Additionally, using "Frozen" to reduce the number of active enemies can be a good strategy. "Minefield" can also be very effective against the manticores, and wyverns once they are on the ground.
