Calculating how good a coach is (star ratings)

If you are like me and feel downloading tools is kind of a cheat and would rather use a formula, and your brain, here is a quick easy way to calculate who is the best coach for the position.

Use the formula below to determine the star rating of coaches. (available on several websites)


D: Determination | D: Level of Discipline | M: Ability to Motivate |> =: Greater than or equal to


Fitness * 9 + DDM * 2
> = 270 = 5 stars
> = 240 = 4.5 stars
> = 210 = 4 stars
> = 180 = 3.5 stars
> = 150 = 3 stars
> = 120 = 2.5 stars
> = 90 = 2 stars
> = 60 = 1.5 stars
> = 30 = 1 star
> = 0 = 0.5 stars

Technique * 2 + DDM
> = 90 = 5 stars
> = 80 = 4.5 stars
> = 70 = 4 stars
> = 60 = 3.5 stars
> = 50 = 3 stars
> = 40 = 2.5 stars
> = 30 = 2 stars
> = 20 = 1.5 stars
> = 10 = 1 star
> = 0 = 0.5 stars

Tactics
Tactics * 2 + DDM
> = 90 = 5 stars
> = 80 = 4.5 stars

An example with Ezio Raciti , His notes: 17 in Technical and Mental, 13 in Determination, 14 in Discipline and 10 in Motivation.
formula for control of the ball : Technical * 6 + Mental * 3 + DDM * 2

which gives:
( 17 * 6) + ( 17 * 3) + ( 13 + 14 + 10 ) * 2 = 227
which corresponds to:
> = 210 = 4 stars (you will be satisfied right?)

Maj, I used to feel the same as you, but trust me, Calculator = Win.
You've proven you know the formulas, therefore you know you can work out the star rating accurately.
Problem is, repeat this 50 times looking to revamp your entire staff in one go = at least an hour of work, probably longer. So, just use a labour saving device and you get to spend more time playing the game :)

I just feel, I don't know dirty downloading things :) I guess I feel that if its tedious, I will tend not to care about using it so often? and Somehow that makes me feel, less dirty?

Silly Orphans.. I'm perfectly capable of adding up numbers, so why spend 1 minute when a program can do it for in 5 seconds. I could also was my dishes in a sink, but I'd rather save time and use the dishwasher. 30 minutes in an oven or 4 minutes a microwave...

The problem with tools is there might not be such "tools" available on Mac OS X. So formulas definitely help when playing the game there. And not to mention actually plowing through data is just one of the biggest fun of playing FM. People who use tools too often miss the point... Thanks for posting the formula here dude.

Except, the 5 star coach in one team may only be a 4 star coach in a team with a higher reputation. There is a weighted rating given to coaches, just like players, that raises or lowers their star rating based on the reputation of your team. If you have a low ranking team and get a great coach, he will be 5 stars, get a new job to a great team and bring that coch with you with the same ratings, he is now only 4 stars. I have seen this happen dozens of times to me.
