Free-To-Play, so is this game Pay-to-Win?
Hey all,
I want to assure all players that Speed Freeks is not Pay-to-Win
As many Free games do, we will monetize using cosmetics.

Here's all info you need to understand the ingame currencies and options.

Scrap and Teef are the two resources that you can use to unlock cosmetics in Speed Freeks.
Scrap is collected by fighting and finishing matches. It drives your progression through the WAAAGH! PATH while unlocking plenty of items along the way.

Teef are purchased with real money and can be spent in the Mek Shop to buy cosmetics.

Purchasing the Loot Pass with Teef allows you to earn a ton of extra items in the WAAAGH! PATH. It also lets you skip the latest vehicle's unlock challenge. Please consider purchasing the Loot Pass to unlock a lot of cool cosmetics as well as early access to the latest vehicle!

Importantly, there are no pay-to-win features in Speed Freeks. While Teef can be used to purchase a WAAAGH! Path Scrap boost to allow early unlocks of rare items, like new vehicles, these have been carefully balanced with the help of the community. The scrapjet for example is unlocked, for free, when you make 500 kill or assists.

Everything can be unlocked via. normal, non-time locked, gameplay. We will continue to monitor and incorporate players feedback into the games development to ensure no Pay-to-Win. Cosmetics are the only thing you can buy with real money, whether that's buying the Loot Pass to unlock more items as you play or buying them directly from the Mek Shop.

We will never lock those options behind a paywall, and we are committed to respecting the time of our non-paying players.

This isn't very clear. Are the cosmetics only available with real money, or can you pay to unlock them sooner with real money?

You can unlock cosmetics with Scrap which you earn just by playing. Some cosmetics can be bought using Teef with real money. Real money used to buy the booster just allows you to unlock things quicker.

Are any of the real money cosmetics only available with real money? It's not a deal-breaker either way but it's hard to figure out from that comment

Whats the "average" gametime needed to unlock an "average"cosmetic with ingame creds?

How many unlocks that can be unlocked for free vs those that need $$$?

Thanks for taking the time to answer

Average game time is hard to determine here because it is also related to performance. You earn more scrap when you do better in game.
The majority can be unlocked for free, although some require the Loot pass

So there must be a limit of teefs required for all cosmetics?
There must also be a ceiling for the amount of teefs that can be earned by race or activity?

Whats the time it would take for the best player on the planet to earn all of teefs needed to get all items available - given the current set of activities?

I guess I would double that time for the "average" player.

its a bit of a shame that you cant earn enough teef from the waaagh path to buy the inevitable next one

Personally, I would have rather paid $15-20 for a complete game with in game unlockables, but I guess that style of game doesn't exist anymore...
Especially when it comes to milking the GW greed train.

No, it isn't actually. Because the devs have since said that some cosmetics are cash-only, hence why I asked. But thanks for your smartass reply.

Everything is possible but it has its cons as well.

For me the perfect answer would be to have a very cheap game instead of Free.
Why?

Because FREE games bring CHEATERS, and being Free means they can create immediatly a new account for cheating if banned.

Therefore in my opinion a 2-3 U$D game is the balance needed to make cheaters pay every time they are banned to come back, it rewards the game directly by players from starters and you can provide all the cosmetics the same way.

And of course the low price will still be bringing players through time.
