So, is this game trying to fail?
Releasing one day before Tekken 8, at a higher price, with no pc beta and no crossplay...
Its like uhm, French Bread, you okay bro? Is anyone forcing you to do this? Do you need us to call someone?

The game is going to do just fine. Same as previous iterations, and almost certainly even better in the long run.

It was never going to compete with the big names in the first place.

If by just fine you mean "dicord fighter month after launch" then you're right.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean.
Just like anything without "Street Fighter", "Tekken", "Strive" or "Mortal Kombat" in its name.

To be fair, it seems like Arcsys actually forcing French-Bread to do their no regional prices bs, since all their self-published games has fine price.

For pre-purchase, yes, it's only announcer voices. After April 1st, the base version loses free season pass, while deluxe becomes 70$ and keeps it. Or so i think.

Then your definition of doing "fine" is questionable. I doubt FB would consider a few hundred players and dozens of thousands of sold copies to be "fine". You're hiding behind the argument that it's a niche game and therefore not expected to perform like SF/Tekken, while ignoring that this price is a part of what's keeping it more niche than it could be.

New players are not sub-genre loyalists, they just like fighting games. For them, UNI2 is wedged between a beginner friendly and approachable GBVSR, and shiny, robust Tekken 8. It's not hard to guess what they'll pick.

My point is that all the decisions I mentioned are hurting the game rather than helping it, its not about whether its going to make MK or SF numbers, its that however it ends up doing it would have done better if those choices hadnt been made.

People who play Tekken do not necessarily care about 2d fighters and vice versa.
But yea for people like me who play booth it is gonna be a tough choice.

$50 update on a niche game with no crossplay and releasing next to Tekken 8.

Dead on arrival

At least, unlike Tekken 8 this game should work great on Steam Deck, i think. Steam Deck struggles even with Tekken 7.

This is a niche game on an already niche genre. This game isnt trying to compete with anyone, hell, i would even say it isnt even trying to bring in new players. People who already liked uni will buy it because it has rollback now and thats it.

It would be stranger if UNI2 didn't reach and possibly surpass UNICLR's numbers, since while UNI2 has a higher price that may stop some from getting it, the addition of rollback may bring in people than never had UNICLR on Steam (or that stopped playing it after playing a game with good rollback), and for those that prefer air dasher-type fighting games without the over-simplification that became more common after BBCF, there aren't a lot of new fighting game options that fit their preference. If such a person didn't like Guilty Gear Strive, there's a good chance they'd consider this game, since the closest other game to an air dasher with cross play is probably Them's Fighting Herds (which I think might be farther from an air dasher than UNI2, and might have less of a sustained playerbase than UNI2 on PC will).

I don't expect 'good' numbers, but it would be silly to think it won't reach triple digits of concurrent players; plenty of people who are interested in this game aren't that interested in Tekken 8.
