if it has to be weeb play strive
yea pretty much
Also FB doesn't seem like they want their game to grow, they just cater to their 200 player playerbase on Playstation
They also have a tendency to just abandon their games, look at type lumina for example
EDIT: saw the same post on GBVSR, get that game if it has to be between one of the 2 at least you can try that one for free
I'm currently playing Tekken. I also wanted to have an anime fighting game. I think I will prefer GBVSR as you said.
Also, MBTL's 22 characters is more than UNIclr's 21 characters, so it's not like MBTL was lacking in characters for a game that couldn't just reuse old character assets.
For the record, while GBVSR looks anime, a lot of people generally use the term 'anime fighting game' to refer to a type of gameplay, and GBVSR is not that type of gameplay at all; GBVSR is closer to Street Fighter.
A more fitting term for the 'anime fighter' type of gameplay is 'air dasher', and games that fall under it include Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Melty Blood, Under Night In-Birth (maybe? it lacks some of the movement but has everything else), Dragon Ball FighterZ, and others, but it excludes some games that look anime like GBVSR and DNF Duel.
Thanks for correcting my mistake. It's not an area I really master, but thanks to you, I learned a little more! :)
The reason for the lack of mass uptake is really obvious once you play it next to a big name like SF. SF is easy to get into. They even implemented a baby mode for controls in the recent iteration. UNI is maximum complexity and has a very low floor. The perfect opposite of newbie friendly. This unfortunately matters a lot more than we hardcore sweatlords would prefer.
If it's like you say, I might be one of the new loyal players.🥳
The AI is about as smart as a sack of flower so you're only way to learn is to find the Discord server dedicated to this game and play against others from there.
If you are unwilling to go online and wait for matches around your level waiting in Discord for someone to pop in then be prepared to get your ass handed to you on a silver platter on the casual and rank mode against people.
At first, you may have a hard time finding players around your skill level. Join the official discord and ping in the beginner netplay room. You'll find gamers in minutes. They'll also answer any questions you have.
