Whats actually wrong with Discord Fighters?
I play just about every fighting game through discord... including the popular games like GBVSR, Strive, and SF6. Usually really easy to get matches, puts you in a community of people interested in the same game, gives you a place to learn and discuss new tech/ideas/strategies, and generally has solid memes.

Yeah its nice to be able to mindlessly queue up for matches, but if you're looking to improve faster, wouldn't being able to discuss the match with another player better?

I dunno what the fear is here.

Social anxiety for some. There are people that are too scared to play the ranked mode in games. Asking for a match on Discord is too intimate, I guess. I definitely heard this notion a couple of times with regard to Discord fighters.

I think it's mostly laziness, people want to open the game and be in queue within 10 seconds. I get it, the convenience is nice, but there's nothing wrong with discord fighters imo. If the community is really small you could wait a long time to find someone I guess, but that's probably not going to be the case with Uni2, even years in the future.

I was nervous the first time I pinged for matches in a discord too, but it's really not a big deal. The FGC has been pretty welcoming in general in my experience, and even if you run into someone who's not what's the worst they can do? Say mean things on the internet?

There are some upsides to discord fighters as well, running longer sets, being able to ask for feedback, getting to play against the same people later and see improvements etc. There are a lot of reasons that high level players tend to prefer that style of play over grinding ranked.

They just like to doomposting, the worst part is by fearing that the game is one they are making it a reality.

I had bad experience with a community where I needed to be to get games. Thankfully they have a more traditional in-game system they modded in.

worse thing is post some invite on discord to a group full of people ignoring it for the eternity, because what this people really do in these discord channels is just accept and play the people they already know

Haven't personally had that experience. Usually people are more than happy to play against newcomers

Biggest issue whit discord fighters is that only people who still play them are usually really good at the game. Meaning if you dint buy the game day one and learned the mechanics alongside everyone else you will struggle to find people of your skill level.
Or at best not get destroyed by tryhards who play against beginners as if its evo finals.

Skill levels are all over the place. I remember being stuck playing kof xv purely via discord, and most my sets were like 7-0 stomps, then the rest were me getting stomped instead. Every once in a blue moon, I'd get that rare set where the final score was 10-9, but finding someone on the same level via discord is so rare that you shouldn't expect it.

discord fighters are dead games and people generally dont enjoy investing time into a dead product

if you ever hop online hit search and nobody is found its a problem and the game is dead

How is a discord fighter a "dead game" when it still has a community of people playing it? If you mean that you want lots of people in your region playing ranked at any given time then just go play SF or something. Uni was never going to have that kind of population, no matter when it releases. This is a niche game in a niche genre, and sometimes that's okay. Not every game is for everyone.

It's pretty apparent when u play bigger games that you just go on ranked and find people without thinking or interacting.
especially for consoles i would guess none wants to just go onto his phone to chat or wait on the couch when someone gonna reply for a game.
With rollback things are definitely better, because you can play with more people, But some people don't like that they have to ask for a match and not just queue ranked like they do in other competitive games.

Because fighting game discords tend to be filled with nothing but the absolute most insufferable people known to man.
