1. Clearer objectives. You can get lost in the weeds and have no idea what to do or where to go really.
2. the map is kind of useless to me for figuring out where I am. the "you are here" arrow never shows where I am. Having a more useful map with a legend that will show in better detail where things are would help. Like, if I find something important I will have to revisit later, It will show on the map.
3. interactions with NPCs should be logged. I can't remember who i talked to and where, or what they said.
4. the inventory menu is a mess. Being able to sort inventory would be great.
5. Having your energy sorted would be great too. Instead of on the bar, it could be categorized better so it's easier to sort through and remove things you no longer want.
6. the gameplay mechanics in general need refined.
-A: It would be great to be able to use attacks when flying.
-B: Sometimes my character gets stuck in a pose and it's hard to get out of it.
-C: Sometimes sounds remain in loop after the action is performed. I have to restart the game to make it stop.
-D: Sometimes when I use an energy attack, the visual doesn't go away, so i'm just walking around with an energy beam just going off.
-E: The environment needs work for multiple reasons. The terrain could be smoother in places, i feel like it's a lot of rough cut jagged edges. Your assets aren't blended properly into the environment, so you can walk under buildings or part of the buildings are buried where they shouldn't be.
That's just a few critiques from the few hours I've been playing the game. I hope you don't get discouraged, I bought the game to support the endeavor and I look forward to seeing where you take it!
I'm sure seeing people upset with the project you worked so hard towards is tough, but this is also game development. I'm sure it was expected. At least I hope some hate was expected because it IS the gaming industry.. It's impossible to please everybody.
That said, you had a vision and if you feel you executed it the way you intended, you should be very proud. Especially if you're a solo developer. Take the reviews as constructive criticism despite how immature or harsh they are. Sometimes people just can't communicate very well and don't know how to express themselves. Others are just keyboard warriors and hide behind a screen thinking they're top tier ♥♥♥♥.
Whatever the case, keep a level head and good attitude and use it as fuel. At the end of the day, everybody praising or complaining bought your game for a reason. They saw something interesting here. I'm one of those people who saw something interesting. It's not everyday someone builds their dream.
Keep at it. Looking forward to the updates
Could always play on controller, the gamepad controls are pretty well done.
Pretty sure the point is to make the most of the short time you have, and improve not just as a character, but as a player.
Learn combat, how to block and dodge effectively, which fights to charge into head-on and which ones to tackle at range, and improve as a player. That will make the quests take less time, and make it easier to improve your character in less time than before.
I think your getting negative reviews because, unlike a lot of indie developers, you didn't really have the chance to build up the solid fan base. You blew up Period, drawing in all the haters too, jealous of your success.
Your game's fine, and I"m shocked a single PERSON made this, and it plays as well as it does. Your fine, Keep doing what you do man. I'm happy I bought it, and hell, I'd happily buy "dlc" for other attacks, skins, planets, and so on as you continue to develop the game!
