Maybe they don't stock the wired version in your local stores, but you can get a "Microsoft Made" Wired 360 controller from Amazon for between $30 and $40 shipped any day you want one. If they DID stop making them there seems to be plenty sitting around in a warehouse somewhere.
Mostly because the dpad is necessary for these kind of games and the 360 controller has the world's worst dpad (probably).
I also like that I can map any button/trigger/stick to any button/trigger/stick.
*Though vibration on mine f710 doesn't respond that well as on mine xbox controller if you want to know my opinion.
