Where is peat?

So everything i can build right now, that i haven't already, requires peat. The description says it's rotten bio material, but simply dropping food on the ground doesn't transform it into that since it doesn't seem to have expiration timer. Tried using the hoe and the shovel on different types of terrain...got nothing.

So ho does one get peat to be able to advance in construction?

it's a rectangular slab of brown stuff (orange object when scanned like rock/ore/other resources) that you need a hauling machine to extract with. you can see the icon on the map

Peat is pretty common, look for rocky hills rocks/iron resource nodes (especially the ones with a cave/mine) around it, many that I've encountered across three different world seeds have a Peat node right by it.

If it is the one requiring the hauling machine....where do i get that? i don't see it in the buildings menu...which is kind of overcrowded and one can easily get lost in it.

It is crafted under the Harvesting > Pitman crafting option after certain criteria are met (I'm not 100% certain what those criteria are though.)

I found out why i couldn't unlock peat : in 3/4 peat nodes near my base there were no peat nuggets to pick up by hand. Found one near another node and it unlocked the whole thing. I don't mind the mechanic behind unlocking stuff, but i am not sure this situation should be something that can happen. I think there should be at least one nugget to pick up by hand near most nodes.

Man, I checked the entire area of the map that is available to explore currently and I didn't find any nuggets of peat until the LAST node I checked. So yeah I second that notion that there should be at least a few more peat nuggets scattered around than just one node maybe.

Hi! Yeah, this situation shouldn't happen and all deposits are supposed to have one piece minimum and a high chance of having second as well. We will check out this problem. And we will increase the minimum amount of rare resource pieces (fuel, precious ore) to 4-5 in the next patch as well.

Same issue for me. The peat nodes have no pieces next to them.

You may have to do what I did and search every node on the explorable area of the map and I mean ALL of them. I had to check every node because I didn't find any lose peat until the very last node I checked.
