AI Voice Actors
I like The Finals and want to financially support the game.

Is there any chance the studio will change their policy on AI replacing Voice Actors? I don't want to support this practice.

Edit:
Studio is locked into using AI Voice and using a third party for the model.

Question is answered, no longer responding.

All the people arguing against ethics when they should first and foremost be concerned that it sounds like utter ♥♥♥♥.

AI fans must have the weirdest taste ever in order to enjoy broken inflections and that creepy robotic breathing. Keep on consooming the slop, I guess.

It's only going to get better. Not sure why you people are so buttmad, using TTS lets the devs iterate extremely rapidly, and can allow you to embed a realistic amount of variability in the lines that are announced.

You can also just turn them off if you don't like the way it sounds.
I dont understand this whinge at all, people have gone weird ass since covid and trump came along.

Those aren't creative tasks. Those are rote, mundane, repetitive tasks.

For a clear answer on this :
"in a podcast from Embark, they gave a shoutout to ElevenLabs, an AI audio provider [1]. looking at ElevenLabs' website and FAQs they clearly state that for all voices you are creating with their software you require the consent of the voice artist and their own provided models are also built with consent [2] which in turn clarifies that the voiceovers in The Finals was made with human input and consent. no one lost a job and no one's voice was stolen, as also stated in an interview with axios [3].

Please do some research before outraging.
It's not as simple as "this is not a human voice"
or "they're stealing jobs from VA's"
it's just not true.
(as well as if you're boycotting a comp FPS title over voice acting choices- you're not the target audience anyways).
Of all the topics, this is the weirdest hill to die on
You mean you don't like the fact the a small studio doesn't have to wait and schedule actors just to add a voice line here or there? They want to make a quick change that requires a voice line? BOOM they can instantly roll it out. Not to mention that it saves them money to do so which for them as a small studio probably means alot.
Besides the the announcers are the only real characters and they just say the same things during matches. Player characters have no personality like other "hero" or "legend" games.

Could have laid out the helpful bits without the snark, but I'll take the effort.

Will look into this, and if it is true that the model basis contributors were paid, I'd be happy to support.

Why you waste my time. I read the page you link and it is about "safety"

It has no information on how the model was built or what it was built from.

I'm out of time for you.

It is too late. You cant stop healthy technological progress. AI will establish itself just like electricity, the radio, TV, Internet and so on. In a few years everyone will be using AI just like we are right now using the internet and computers. If you are against technological progress then please delete steam, cancel your internet contract and recycle your PC.
Have you ever considered the question "Should we?", instead of "Can we?"

Should we just replace everything with AI and completely remove the human element, or not? Personally, I find the game to be soulless for using AI, ergo I stopped playing it after 5 or so hours.

Edit: It'd be also pretty good if you didn't jump to the extreme, basically saying "Destroy all of your technology and become a caveman" just because someone isn't a fan of AI voiceacting.
