Gateway Needs to be temporarily disabled
Being able to instantly teleport your team 70 meters in an extremely strong tool to have, especially with the respawn changes in quick cash. This alone makes Gateway is one of the best gadgets in the Finals. However this fact is NOT the problem I have with the gadget. It's the cases in which you'll see it used 80% of the time.

First. Cashbox plugging. Throwing a gateway should not guarantee the cash box to go through the portal, but it does 100% of the time if placed correctly. You don't even have to be the first ones there to do it. Aside from glitch grenades, there is absolutely no consistent counter to this. You can't close an enemy portal without glitch grenades (only light gets those) or finding glitch barrels (you need to be lucky), you can't grab the cashbox before it goes through the portal, and the Light can place the second gateway at the very last second since you know exactly when the box is going to open. There is absolutely no risk to this, and if someone follows you through the portal, you're the fastest class in the game so you can escape practically immediately.

The only Potential counter to this is dropping the cashbox down to a lower floor while it's still unlocking, however if it spawns on the 1st floor, you can't do anything. If it spawns on the second floor or higher, well, guess what, Light gets 3 times the amount of C4 charges that heavy has, so he can just drop it, leaving to no counter.
I'm okay with players bringing a cashbox through portals or throwing it into portals. but if someone is 70 meters away from a cashbox, they should have no direct influence where that cashbox goes unless they shoot someone.

People might argue that despositing the Cashout station isn't as big a deal as securing the cashout, but in World Tour you get 30% of the cash box automatically when depositing a cash box, and Light can now stay invisible for the entire duration of a cashout. Combine that with the Stun gun and you get mega cancer I would never wish upon my worst enemy... probably.

Second. This gadget is too good for defending aswell. If you only place the first gateway, it stays there for an INFINITE amount of time. This means you can place it next to a cashout station, leave it there, and if someone starts stealing you immediately go through and stop the steal and leave. That would involve risk however, so what people do instead is spamming grenades through the portal to get kills instead. Combined with the 20 second cooldown for gateways and rather fast cooldown for grenades, this can be repeated multiple times throughout a singular cashout phase.
Admittedly this is more of a Frag Grenades are OP problem, and there is more counterplay than with the cashbox plugging method. You can bring APS turret, and go through the portal yourself (unless it's in the sky) and move the cashout so the grenades miss. Once again, like with the cash box, you should not be able to directly influence it if you're 70 Meters away unless you are shooting an enemy.

Third. Exploits. Not a buzzword but literally performing a glitch to gain a substantial unfair advantage. This section is the reason why I said gateways need to be disabled instead of nerfed in the title, because right now games are being ruined with this.
There's already some exploits with the gateway with getting out of bounds (Killing players in the practice range, getting under the streets in monaco including the cashbox maybe some more). Right now you can still get out of bounds in the training range, and as far as I know you can still get under the map in Monaco. In fact more of them are being introduced.

With the new map Bernal, there's a lift that when you press a button goes up and down. You can probably guess where this is going. Place a gateway when the lift is down, put the button and the gateway is a one way ticket to the void. This means you can plug the cash box, safely take it out into the platform, press the button and anyone who follows instantly falls into the void. This keeps hammering the problem with the gateway. There is NO RISK, and there is every reward possible. Cashouts? Instantly. Elimations? Don't even have to shoot them. And anyone who doesn't follow or bring a gateway of their own has to spend their sweet ol time getting down to the cashout station, all while you can set up defenses or sit invisible in a corner.

As time goes on I'm seeing this gadget used in more and more unfair and unfun ways. It stayed in ranked and world tour at first, but now every 1 out of 4 games in quick cash, if there's a light, there's someone plugging the cashbox.

Assuming they can fix all the out of bounds exploits going on, the first major change I would make is if it's only the first gateway that is placed, you can shoot it. Once it's shot its destroyed and gadget goes on cooldown. This changes back to normal if the second one gets placed.

Second change I would make, cash box cannot go through the portal unless grabbed for the first 2 seconds. If it's only the first change then players would just switch the order in which they place the portals in.

Finally, 20 seconds is too low of a cooldown for how much it can alter a game. Definitely needs to be increased to 40 seconds if bounce pad is also gonna take 40 seconds to come back. That would be a good start and maybe something else to fix the grenade spam if they aren't gonna nerf frags.

Thanks for reading this (or taking the time to skim through it). Oh, and despite all these issues, stun gun is still worse. At least the gateway has a good aesthetic.

I remember a few months ago - in one of the Quick cash matches in Monaco - I found a cashbox underground, which no one couldn't get, and knocked it out with explosives. Then I thought that there was just some smart-ass guy who knew about the "hole" in the map (found out from some video blogger, for example), and put a cashbox there, which remained there throughout the round. It seems that I even have this moment somewhere on one of my stream recordings. Well, now I know a little more about how this could theoretically happen.

This happens accidentally as well actually quite often. I've experience it 4 or 5 times. Most games just everyone leaves.
However one game it got under and the entire lobby stopped shooting and tried to move the cash-out station to the vault stuck under the map, to see if it would go in xD
It was really cute, but we ran out of time

It sounds fun). Without any sarcasm, I want to say that the idea of moving an ATM to a cashbox is pretty smart. 👨🏻‍🏫
