most of the time your going to want to play the minigun with a quicker pace if you get what i mean, and use it as if you where using a shotgun (only push to use it UP TO 15m max engagement distance).
The minigun excels if you use it to dominate close range and you learn how to manage its spin up ONCE its spun up, I only ever use the ADS function to keep my barrel spun up from player to player if one moves out of my sightline (legit just tapping the ADS will keep the barrel spun and will allow you to void the spin up time, Id only recommend doing it around fights or objectives as you need to keep your heavy running most of the time, not his minigun) or minor player to player tracking in cramped gunfights
last thing you want to do is keep engaging in fights trying to use ADS tracking, most of the time your wanting to use hipfire for the bulk of the damage and tracking, as you can keep your movements as heavy relatively quick, means if your in a scneario where you get out gunned or your target gets out of the miniguns effective range, your not caught with your pants down, id reccomend using ADS tracking when quickly swapping from one target to another, or for when a low health target your already engaging with trys to nope out of minigun range
take some time each day to go to the practice range and do 3-5 mins of ads tracking and killing the moving medium targets on the shooting range, any tracking within 5-7 m should be done via hipfire (get used to how buttery smooth the miniguns ttk can be in close range :) ) any tracking beyond that range should be done via ADS
Also do about 3-5 mins of minigun movement training:
- Stand in the middle of the front and back moving medium targets on the shooting range
- Spin up your mini gun until its fully revved
- combo using slide + ADS Tap+ Jump to move between both targets while tracking them and killing then each time you get within 5-7m of them using hipfire (you wana learn to maximise movement in combat scenarios while keeping your minigun spun up, this is the best way to do it imo without getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ every lobby
- If you feel like your getting good with the hipfire, rerun the 5 mins of training and try to including using your ADS taps to aid your tracking mid movement
as for gear I would reccomend taking mesh sheild as your ability, RPG for damage openers, then gas nades and pyro mines, you want a ♥♥♥♥ ton of DOT kit to turn fights with your minigun into hp mopup sessions than dedicated gunfights (Ik that sound scummy its how the gun plays), Mesh shield is heavys quickest to deploy/use ability, it works perfectly as a great distraction tool to bait sweatlord kill farmers into playing at the miniguns range.
ps: sorry for the blurb, the minigun is very much a titanfall2 esq weapon, you really gotta put the effort into learning its quirks
The gun is viable in the right hands and ONLY the right hands. Like youtubers/pros, i see them dominate with it but it sucks for other people. A lot of people are saying it needs a buff including me. I have used it for 40 ish hours total and it has yet to work out for me. Just run M60 until they buff it. And the buff doesnt need to be much, I think a range buff would be balanced. Like reduce the spread by 30% give or take. Oh and the destructible damage sucks ass too
This helped alot, went from 1 to 6-10 on 90% of matches. I ended up switching up to
Charge/RPG/Dome/Explosive Mines
I came from Team Fortress 2 in which I assumed it was similar to that. I ended up having to move around more than I'm used too.
