defib is a problem
defib should be

removed?
a fourth slot for every class?
available as equipment for every class?
baked into the standard revive mechanics regardless of class
- (and then turned into medium's first cool melee weapon?)

medium canbe a great class based on it's own merits instead of being the best class because of the unbelievable difference fibs make, any team who cares about their RS is bullied by dice into bullying their best player into playing medium.

throwing defib in with every other piece of equipment both creates a very clear and annoying "illusion of choice" while also misleading new players into not knowing that they need it.

have you ever considered that perhaps the devs INTEND for defib to be a vital piece of equipment? like sometimes a developer has a vision for the game and mechanics are a reflection of that. who says they dont want to make a game where defibs are vital? why can't they, if they wanna?

that alone isn't the problem, it's inclusion as "any other item" like the grenades is poor design and is a thick sad cloud over a set of interesting classes that have delightful and fair differences otherwise. you want to force every team to have a medium? great, do that. you want to force at least 1 man on every team to only have 2 personal slots? great, do that. defibs are a blast, but hinging your ability to play at all entirely on an forcing an "optional" class to take an "optional" equipment is not how you make games

defib should absolutely be a specialization atleast, balancing it has been an absolute ♥♥♥♥ show. oh while we are at it nuke it even more by making glitch grenades stop it.

its not just defibs. its both the healing and defibs together thats the problem. on a class that can be surprisingly tanky and does good damage with decent range.
and also has mobility thats accessible to the whole team.

not to mention all those upsides can be stacked. a full team of mediums with zips and jumppads get around the map faster then any light can.
a team full of heals can be just as tanky as heavys
and the defibs just keep the whole team going with the main counter being mediums glitch mines. so more mediums in play to counter mediums lol.

and the most surprising part is hardly anyone complains about it. they be complaining about lights or heavys

I agree, would love to have defib just built into the res mechanics, albeit nerfed from its current state. some people have been suggesting the res hologram should be shootable, I think that would make a lot of sense if everybody could just defib. as a medium main i would love to have 3 gadget slots.

the finals is a party game there is supposed to be explosions happening everywhere and people jumping from the sky to defib their teammates, players definitely do not want any more nerfs at the moment

this is the rock paper scissors nature of the game, toning any of what was said here down would make it less fun for everyone

look what happens to the game when heavy gets nerfed hard

Defib’s basically like an OP cheat code for Mediums. Either make it available for all classes or turn it into a cool melee weapon. Right now, it’s just forcing everyone to play Medium, and that’s kinda lame.

noone is forcing anyone to play medium

for the vast majority of the match defib has no direct benefit

no, not really. you can play with any combination of "bad" and meme loadouts and classes, you can win however you please, but losing your fibs is a significantly more significant change than even opting to go without throwables entirely

doesnt solve anything and infact would make everything worse, never cook again. you should be able to either get to revive fast or heal. not both.
