They have a lot of options, but then you run into 4 move slot syndrome (to borrow a term from Pokemon).
You can provide a lot of killing power and scouting, but you die super easily.
You have very limited options for defensive plays, but are strong on offence.
They are fast and good for running cash boxes, but are often too squishy to steal.
"NOOOO, how am I supposed to deal with someone with a 10% dps advantage with only twice the hp?!?!?!?! They just move too fast and are so tiny!1! Embark do something!11 REEEEEEEE!!!"
I mean yeah ofc good players can rule the battlefield with light.
But know what they would be even more devastating if they would play any of the other 2 classes.
Would like to know where you got your "source"
Light is an insanely selfish class which is why people are attracted to it. Its the class that is really just about killing people out of the 3.
Mediums are by far the class with the most utility and it isn't even comparable.
I've been revived by a light class exactly 2 times in my entire play of this game. Both probably by mistake too. They likely thought they were stealing the cashbox.
Regarding people who say lights are not OP, I hope I get to play with the lights you've been playing. That'd be enjoyable. The ones I run into will kill me in 0.8 seconds flat no matter how much I jump, slide, or shoot back. In fact, they will kill me in the time it takes my shotgun to ready the second shot. Being invisible helps them set up any kind of kill easily too. Mines don't fully kill them, specially since now we (mediums) only get one at a time. That was the only way I use to fight them back, meticulously placed traps in places I know they'd be coming from. No more of that, of course.
Let's be frank: the reason why lights are given so much is because the bulk of the population of every multiplayer online shooter is people who want to get as many kills as fast as possible. It's literally tunnel vision, brainrot players who think "number go up, me good". They never stick with the team, never revive teammates. They just go in and try to kill as many as they can before dying. Rinse and repeat.
Now, the awful truth is that these chicken brained players are the reason this game is still going, since it uses the F2P model. They will buy items they think make them look cool... or ridiculous. Both in equal measure. If the L class was not meant to outmanouver every other class in terms of speed, firepower and equipment this population would simply move on to other twitchy games like CoD.
That would kill the game. And I really like it, it's the only shooter I play. So it's an impossible equation.
But light can be so satisfying to play when you actually play the objective and around your teammates. I like to play sword as I am a menace with it. I am able to quickly finish single targets and scare enemies out of cover so teammates can punish them with ranged fire (though this is arguably better done as a medium with shield and baton).
Lights are also good for carrying boxes and guess what, REVIVING DEAD TEAMMATES! I grab dead teammates, book it out of there, then revive. Light has the options to get in and out quickly which can be clutch as ♥♥♥♥ and has saved a few matches for me.
As for Heavy, that class is a wildcard to me. Either I am doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or I am god, I am not able to play it consistently despite being my 2nd most played class behind medium.
Invisibility would NOT be an issue IF: There wasn't a sword that could two-shot you once close enough.
Stun gun would not be an issue IF: the light didn't have firearms that could melt you in place before the stun even wares off.
What i noticed is that the Lights will tell you time and time again that "Invisibility is terrible, its completely useless and provides zero usability to us! you can just see us anyway" But whenever someone suggest "removing" or replacing it with an actual skill they could find useful, they kick and scream, begging for it to stay. They'll provide a list of reasons why this skill is useless and how you can supposedly "counter it"
1. "You just gotta stop and listen for the footsteps!"
(hopefully there isnt other sounds around you, such as explosions/gunfire, your own footsteps, ect-plus if you foolishly do stop, they can aim at your better)
2. "man you can fully see the us! you got eyes right?!"
(there's several factors as to why you wont be able to see the outline such as smoke/them standing still, poison mist traps, fire, ect)
3. "nobody uses this in ranked!"
(everyone uses it in ranked, casual, w.e in reality)
Too many people use this "so called" useless skill for it to be "useless" and too many people FIGHT LIKE HELL to keep it from getting Nerfs.
PLUS on top of all this, they cry like hell to get other classes nerfed.
Might be a hot-take, but the Dash is fine. I never had an issue killing a Light using a dash + sword combo, relatively speaking of course, but those are extremely rare. They mostly use invisibility (though they'll tell you otherwise here)
I've seen a Light slay a entire team by himself with that sword, even with a Heavy on board. He just kept swinging until all 3 died. (After he broke the heavy's shield first ofc)
The only thing Lights can do is move quick but they don't have any damage they can only maybe kill other lights at best.
Bruh... the SMGs have the highest DPS out of all automatic and burst guns, what are you on about?
