After the Unreal Engine update I have **** issue the game is power capping the GPU use after 3 matches, restarting the game fix it, but it is a pain
"brand new" as in out of the box lol. I have 32gigs of ram
i am not using linux. no amount of game restarts or pc restarts has fixed this yet.
edit - red network icon is a thing too
I can feel it
here are my specs
CPU: i3-10105F
GPU: RX 570 8GB
RAM: 16GB
I get around 70 - 100 frames last time i checked but i have a mix of low - medium settings and TAA on 85
My general advice to people is:
1 use two sticks of high speed ram (atleast 3600 cl16) .
2 tweak your bios - enable cppc, disable all the useless stuff like nx mode, virtualization etc.
3 tweak your windows. amd chips are very sensitive to things like power plans and system processes (IO still not optimised). There is even a bug with storage controller which can cause stutters.
Feel free to contact me if you need help.
1. More Advanced Technologies in UE5
• Nanite and Lumen: These new technologies in UE5 enable massive geometric detail and advanced dynamic lighting, but they significantly increase hardware requirements. This can cause micro-stutters (stuttering) on configurations that can’t maintain a constant stream of data and computation.
• Memory Management: UE5 is designed to take advantage of systems with fast NVMe SSDs, but on older or less capable configurations, asset load times can cause stuttering.
2. Shader Compilation Issues
• This issue existed in UE4, but it seems to be exacerbated in UE5. On first run, the engine often compiles shaders in the background, which can cause temporary stutters. In UE5, due to the accumulated complexity of visuals, the compilation process is more cumbersome.
3. Game Optimization
• UE5-based games are still relatively new, and developers are still learning how to optimize their projects with the engine. This sometimes results in less stable performance compared to UE4, which has benefited from years of improvements and better developer understanding.
4. CPU and GPU Stuttering
• UE5 puts more strain on the GPU, but it is also very demanding on the CPU to handle its complex processes. Older or poorly balanced configurations may experience more stuttering in UE5-based games.
