It does now, private match was updated to allow 2 players minimum.

do private match. then do solo bank it and add all your friends. it will be
a free for all and just use the cashouts as a location to find each other

Private match send him the Lobby ID so he connects on the enemy team, don't invite him to the lobby as that will just put him on your team.
