The problem is within the perspective. Years back we had way less games to choose from, what do people think why CS was so big? it was the only one of it's kind. Nowadays we have too many games, every month comes a new game. And people move on or jump in/out of games. Just open steamDB and look at some of the Games that were high in numbers and died pretty fast.

-Halo Infinite
-Dragon's Dogma 2
The list goes on and on. Doesn't mean there is any agenda, that is just how the market works in 2024.

it over performed prior to and at launch, that probably set the bar, so yeah. This is a pretty niche game and still keeps a 20k concurrent player base (just on PC) even with all the issues with cheaters and balance drama. I will say I would have spent more money if there were more cool skins and less furry crap, but I suppose I'm not the demographic/generation they are catering to, unfortunately. The core of this game is awesome, they just need to put more man-power on fixing the engine and netcode issues, and balance will be an ongoing thing. Games only been out less than 5 months.

yeah the game's dying big time. a pathetic 11k concurrent playerbase. remember, the servers originally had a capacity for 200k+ Probably closer to a 500k considering the wait times before you got in the game back on release.

theres no way in hell, that they can sustain the overhead cost for those servers with a measly 11k players. thats why i give it before the end of the year. servers will shut down for good.

I blame it on the Light class, the hackers plus the woke BS, and uhhh, the devs dont really seem to bright either.

Kinda feel like Embark having no clue what direction they wanted to take their game is why it is failing. Instead of honing on what was good and worked, they did the all too common nerf everything in an attempt to create a perfectly balanced E-sport bit. I like the game but the constant adjustments that come out with every patch only leave the game feeling more and more generic. I miss season 1 when things were unbalanced and there were overpowered play styles that kind of environment for a game is what creates fun and interesting counter play. With season 2 it just feels like COD.

Its woke and it has absolutely horrendous balance in ranked modes...has since launch. I dont think they've even considered doing anything about cheaters, and bugs that have been in the game for 4 months havent been addressed. I think the vegas over/under would be 6 months.

If you want to see "the message" shoved down your throat, give Apex a try. You'll quickly realise that The Finals is actually a welcomed respite from the brave new world.

yes this is the perspective. its disappointing performance when put into context to the prior investors report that stated it had an over performing open beta & launch period. So it did BETTER than expected.... investor expectations grew, and were not met with current growth. Which is what investors always look for. Who knows if this performance would have been considered poor if the bar had not been set high to begin with. Because The Final's launch was considered an explosion of popularity nobody expected. As with most gaming companies these days who are dumping employees just to grow profits, (for reference, see the over 10,000 2023&2024 industry layoffs) investor expectations in the industry are currently very unrealistic and uncaring.

You realize in this day and age cloud servers spin up and down based on the amount of load you need to serve? They don't literally buy servers and keep them in a warehouse.

Not sure you actually know what woke is. While I'm more than happy to boycott any game invested with DEI, I've seen no evidence of it in this game...unless you count the fact that dudes can wear women's outfits(and that's literally the game just giving you tools for you to use as you please.)

The game has dipped b/c of the slow updates and an infestation of hackers/overtuned aim-assist, while also having heavy competition from some surprisingly good games shortly after release. The game is actually in a really good state now, but getting people to come back once they get hooked on a new game is difficult. I and a number of friends recently picked the game back up and we're having a blast with it.

I am happy for the finals dy*ng but its not for that reason, I loved my woke george santos Heavy character with a big gyatt.

But the real reason is they bent the knee to satisfy streamers and any non casual and removed all the fun things about it.

I have been praying to God for this game to fail and dissapear because of how deeply betrayed I felt to get bamboozled expecting them to focus on the fun aspect.

I will celebrate the good news with champagne, Red baron Pizza, a bag of tyson hot wings and 100 hail marys for my answered prayers.
