when did i said im not or will not play the game? i got lost in the plot.
The investors have paid their salary by investing in the company, but it is not free money. They actually need to make money with the product and hopefully enough so that the profits can cover the costs. They keep up maintenance, servers and content ONLY because they are hoping to turn their product profitable and cover the costs. The costs INCLUDE dev salaries.
This is game company 101 financials and I can't believe I even need to explain this to you.
Let me ask you a question, no wait, it's a rhetorical one: Why do you think some games cost money and some games are free2play?
Answer for you anyway: Because they have different finance models.
Free to play games can only turn costs into profits by selling in-game content, usually cosmetics.
If players don't buy cosmetics in The Finals, Embark will be in deep trouble and it could be possible we don't see more quality products from them (new games) in the future. Sure enough Nexon can probably cover the costs if The Finals does extremely horribly considering the costs of making a game of this caliber and keeping it up to date. It wouldn't be good for Embark's future, that's for sure.
