Also 0 marketing - how many times have you ever seen a banner or ad for Finals on Steam? Personally me, never, not once.
Also this might be intentional, devs mentioned they still aren't happy with state of game and where it is until they start actual marketing push so who knows we could still all be just playing an extended beta since Dec 2023
Wrong.
Just look at CS and WoW. Those games have been active for +20 years.
The devs nerfed all the fun stuff and made it casual friendly is what killed the game. Plus its way too CPU intense.
The finals is fun and has a strong group of regular players, but the poor balancing and anti cheat at the start made it hard for the masses to keep playing. The fast passed high skill cap gameplay was also a turnoff for a lot of people starting late. A number of my friends that I tried to get interested in the game didn't enjoy getting destroyed game after game while they tried to figure things out. The game has also had a great many technical issues which kept people from even being able to launch the game.
