Why is AutoHotkey banned? Are people abusing it?

I use AHK so I can press a key to auto-center any window on my desktop, and another key to make any window 'always-on-top'. I've never had a problem with any game detecting it as forbidden software, including The Finals, until I launched the game today and it gave me an error message. I wasn't aware that it could be abused for games like this. I thought it is basically the same as Logitech GHUB or Corsair iCue, which have scripting and macros, but like a more robust version of that.

Wondering if it's intended, or an oversight? I guess it's not a problem to close it before I launch the game, the only bummer is that if I forget to close it, I don't want to get strikes against my account.

Dont know but its kind of a bummer. I use a 49" wide monitor, so i usually run windowed mode so i can size my game and then use hotkey to remove the toolbar since it bugs me.

You could easily do the same thing rewasd did with it's Anti-Recoil in AHK, since the weapons have a fixed pattern.

As sad as it is, prop good it's banned.

This is exactly my use case too lol. 49" Samsung Odyssey G9 ultrawide, I like to center certain games in windowed mode b/c it drives me crazy.

Ha, same monitor. Samsung really needs to add a way to play centered 2560x1440. I dont want to always play with this entire monitor, especially if you cant adjust the hud.

Because the anticheat can't differentiate whether you're using it for mundane crap or whether you're cheating with it. You could use AHK to cheat if you wanted to.

I think it was disabled as part of the 1.4.1 patch, there was another guy who posted a thread about AHK right after that patch dropped. I guess you haven't launched the game since before then?

the game used to auto-kick you if you were using macros that it detected, this is just another level of that. There is/was a bug in the game where you could cancel quick-melee and switch weapons and do it over which allowed you to quick-melee someone 5-6 times in less than 2 seconds and people were running macros to do just that.

I know it sucks that nice things are ruined by cheaters, but even if a cheat also has nice accessibility features it's still a cheat regardless of what it's "used" for

It's not a cheat regardless of what it's used for... this logic makes no sense. Is logitech software a cheat software because it can be misused for that? No. In order for AHK to be a cheat software cheating in a game has to be it's intended function but its not, AHK was not made for gaming its made for windows, so it was never and will never be cheat software.

Also it was pointless to ban as there are undetectable & more efficient methods of anti-recoil such as LUA scripts, so banning AHK is pointless as it doesn't stop or even reduce those issues, anyone using AHK for that purpose is doing it in the least efficient way possible

I use auto hotkey because my keyboard doesn't have volume buttons. I open the script pretty much every time I use my computer so im also worried I will forget to turn it off when I want to play.

I am afraid I may get banned for my startup-autorun scripts I use for graphic design work. I try to remember to kill these scrips before playing, but sometimes I forget and I get scary popup that "I may get banned if this contiues". You know, devs, your game is not only being played by plebs, this is not fortnite.
