Are controllers allowed with crossplay off?
Can people still use a controller when only playing against PC players?
If that's a yes then it's a solid red flag and the same destiny as MW2/3.

As long as software lets people benefit from aim assist whilst using a mouse and keyboard the game will be a cheatfest and i'd rather avoid it, i hope controllers are blocked completely when disabling crossplay.

It DOES NOT prevent a PC users from playing with a controller, with other PC users.

also its worth mentioning your issue isn't with controller players. but M/KB players who are using a program to spoof the game into thinking they are using a controller when actually using a mouse which unlocks aim assist for them. this program isn't detected by anti-cheat programs and has been come very very common place in this game

Yes that's the issue i'm describing; using a superior mouse and keyboard + the strong aim assist of a controller.
Controllers need aim assist to even out the playing field against mouse and keyboard players (and to make it enjoyable even against other controller users).

It has no place in a pc game with crossplay turned off imo.
If controllers and thus aim assist would be exclusive to console vs console or crossplay, there wouldn't be an issue for us pc gamers.
Likewise mouse and keyboard should be blocked out from console matches with crossplay off, then only crossplay matchmaking would potentially have abusers of the system.

Why aim assist even is an option in pc only matches is beyond me.
Players will ALWAYS cheat in ANY game, but in this game and MW2/3 it's incredibly easy to and they could even argue they're "technically" not cheating (i disagree with that tho).

i mainly play on my steam deck, but when i do use my PC i mainly use a xbox controller i can understand the frustration but completely removing a way to play isn't ideal in my opinion. they should instead look into detecting this kind of spoofing all together that's the true culprit

incorrect, if youre on PC using controller, and turn crossplay off, you will only be matched with other controller players, even on console, and wont be matched with MnK players.

I've been under the impression that Finals is one of the few games where controller aim assist isn't broken to the point where a bad controller player can beat a good mouse and keyboard player consistently. Controller aim assist was nerfed heavily many months ago, I think most of the aim assist bots dropped the game and moved on to Apex after where the aim assist is still overtuned after the nerf from 0.4 to 0.3.

Really though, if you want to find out if controller is broken in The Finals, then someone needs to figure out what input the top ranked players are using. There's no flawless way to do this because many people don't stream and a lot are just cheating, but checking the inputs of streamers could help.

and now we lag cuz of SECURITY , to fight against aim assist software .
the loop is close
So, can we use controllers with crossplay off? If yes, that’s a huge red flag—like waving a “welcome to cheat city” banner! I mean, if folks can rock a controller while I’m stuck dealing with aim assist shenanigans on mouse and keyboard, it’s basically a recipe for disaster. We don’t need a repeat of the MW2/3 chaos! Let’s keep it fair, people. If you disable crossplay, let’s also lock out the controllers. I want a level playing field, not a circus where everyone’s doing whatever they want!
