recently got banned due to having cheat engine on the background

hey...so i usually use CE in order to speed up some of my offline games (mostly rpgs , as they are too slow and my attention span is too limited) and i think i kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up by leaving the software running on the background and starting the game yesterday.
their anti cheat software detected CE and told me that an unauthorized software was detected so i simply turned it off and got to log to the game and play normally
but today i tried logging in and my account got banned hehe.....
is there any chance to get unbanned ? i do realize running CE while a multiplayer game is running is hella stupid but it was an honest mistake nothing else...

You're not wrong, but in order for cheat engine to work, it needs to attach to programs.
If it's not attached, it can't modify things.
Not defending cheating, but OP shouldn't be banned for having a program open that's not doing anything.

That's my thoughts as well, the TOS specifically says USING software. That does leave room for interpretation, but in this context I'd imagine USE as actually messing with files/code. That being said, I did the same thing OP. Was giving myself components in cyberpunk earlier in the day and just forgot I had the program open. It sounds stupid, but it is kinda unusual for them to ban you simply for having the program running. At least, I've never seen it before and that's probably why I didn't even think about it. Submitted a ticket and hoping for the best, I really like this game ;(

You'd think that EAC detecting it and not even letting you play until it's off would be good enough, but I guess not.

There's too many cheaters in Souls game Invasions. I just want to play Dark Souls coop with randoms. I put down a sign to get summoned to do some good ol fun PVE. Then we get invaded by a hacker using Cheat Engine and he's teleporting bosses ontop of us, flying around in the air dropping infinite black fire bombs, then he just backstab teleports people around the map (dude literally backstabbed me back to Majula, a place that is inaccessible during invasions and coop) and hits them with a knife once to petrify them for an instant kill. That's not including the people who use infinite health hacks and other mods. Souls games would be so much better if you could opt out of invasions during coop and be able to play in a seamless world that you and the host could traverse without disconnecting, then you could actually make a PVE build. There's not many games that are 3d Legend of Zelda but with Coop. But if you're going to get invaded all the time just because you want to play coop, then it's like every build has to be PVP oriented but even that won't help you with all the hackers on Cheat Engine. It's hard to introduce your friends to play Coop in Dark Souls because literally the first guy who invaded my friend in Dark Souls 3 was a hacker.

Just having it in the background after doing something that requires it and forgetting to close it isn't some horrific moral choice. Any of you people tried playing Warband without some way of speeding up fights you get knocked out in?

Offline game modding is actually typical for people to do. Some games actually require it. I agree its an honest mistake. These game devs know that some people attach 3rd party mods to their games and that sometimes these processes do not shut down on their own.

The proper thing the anticheat should do is come up with a "operation violation" window, show which process it is that is running, tell the player to terminate the process and then relaunch the game. With the anticheat then terminating the game itself by disconnecting the player from the match immediately.

Its lazy programmers which as to why we have problems today in the world of gaming. I fully agree that cheating is the scummiest thing that anyone can do, But just knowing how some of those offline games are and how frustrating they are for some people.

If cheat engine can actually cheat your multiplayer game, it is designed HORRIBLY.

i feel sorry for you but theres nothing we can do. its up to embark. ive used cheat engine before to get a freecam in a game that didnt have one so i could get some nice shots for a video so i know its not actually really just for cheating and it should be obvious that no actual cheater would try and use that to cheat. hope you get your account back
