High CPU usage?
Hi people, does anybody has like a LOT of CPU usage playing? Im talking about 90%+ percent used, i have a ryzen 5 5600.

Okay? Isn't that what you have that server for? Isn't that why you bought the CPU, to use it?

Windows CPU scheduling absolutely works. For example how come you're not able to completely freeze up the OS, or atleast a single thread, by writing a program that just runs an infinite loop? Because the OS, with the help of CPU hardware, has complete authority of what and how much of it is able to execute on the CPU.
This is something that the OS has constant and precise control over. And when combined with windows's scheduling priority mechanism, it ensures everything critical to the operation of the OS is never interrupted.

However, if you still want to believe we live in the 90s, I can provide you with the exact x86 mnemonics modern OSs use to achieve this and explain in detail how and why they works the way that they do.
Not really, When your CPU is being physically bottlenecked, no software side optimisation will do anything. To work properly windows reserves resources from CPU in the cache from time to time to get instant response from calls made by OS to CPU. 100% cpu usage delays this process causing malfunction. Developers know this and optimise games properly by releasing system specifications which indicates on what kind system the game will work. when you cpu is being utilised constantly 100%, windows will wait for any kind of operation until the CPU has time to allocate time to windows. The CPU being busy allocating resources to the game, will start ignoring calls from any other sources be it windows or any other software, the cache will be constantly filled up with hardly any room left for windows. This will cause several malfunction and you can see in these forums people with 100% cpu usage has several crashes, hardwares like keyboard and mouse getting disconnected, audio acting weird. All these because of heavy CPU usage, even the the p-cores and e-cores get confused how to handle it because it is getting less time of engagement of the operating system with the CU. You will understand none of this anyway so no point in explaining stuffs to your 90's brain any further. So yes this game is horribly optimised because the devs didn't test a wide combination of hardwares. 100% gpu usage is fine but 100% cpu usage is not.

To know why 100% cpu usage is always bad you need a bare minimum knowledge on computers. So from next time do your homework first instead of making nonsense comments.

I got the same problem with a 12400f and a 6700xt.
I need to precise that the CPU is also at 100% in the MENUS which is not normal, my friend that got almost the same config as me got 2% - 3% CPU in the menus and maybe 30% CPU in game, so there is something wrong somewhere.
He got a 6800xt and maybe a 5600x. Also he is on windows 11 and i am on windows 10. Hope that can help.

They need to this problem as fast as possible, my cpu is using 100% and gpu just 60%-70%

The only game with 97%. (Same all in LOW.)

Turn off Windows Turbo Boost, I made a post about this. I was getting 70 degrees in the menu, this has nothing to do with Unreal using your CPU better. The game isn't optimised for later generation CPUs

You should be happy games are finally utilizing the entirety of your CPU and not some arbitrary number of cores.

Regardless if it's not thermal throttling you shouldn't worry about it, and if it is, it's about time you opened up your PC and did same basic cleaning.

lmao no a game fully utilizing your entire CPU is a bad thing. The CPU is for your entire system, including Windows Processes/Services, other background processes, things that actually makes your PC boot, etc. It's not just for a single application.
Yes, a game able to use more cores efficiently IS a good thing. Anyone saying otherwise is just repeating some headline they read of twitter and is scared because CPU sounds like a scary word to them.

"I'm right you're wrong, just google it bro!"

It's clear you have no actual idea what a cpu does or know what bottlenecking is, so why are you attacking people that literally know more than you lmfao

It probably is the same as it is with some GPU's. You need to downclock your CPU's to reduce the amount of load the Unreal Engine is causing. The CPU will not load 100% of its factory maximum if it can not even reach it's maximum capacity. Unreal Engine is an unoptimized trash engine and the newer versions of it had way too little testing going on. Downclocking your CPU also allows you to lower your voltage a little which will make it run cooler if that is something you want. The sad part about this is that we lose a little performance but it is either that or not playing at all, untill UE developers actually release a stable version of their engine.

I have tried pretty much everything for my GPU problem and downclocking was the only thing that actually did something. UE drains too much from your CPU and GPU and it seems to be very random since many can play just fine.

The only thing that matters is that your CPU and GPU are both working to their full potential when needed. Lower GPU usage but than CPU usage? Are you hitting a frame rate you're happy with? If yes, great. Stop worrying about it. If no, set a maximum frame rate. Lower certain graphics settings (draw distance, geometry detail). Optimally you want more GPU utilization than CPU. But if you're running a low resolution, low graphics settings and an unlocked frame rate, you'll probably be CPU constrained.

High fan noise and temps? Lock your frame rate to the minimum you're happy with. Or, get a better case and/or CPU cooler.

But again, it doesn't matter if you're enjoying the experience and you're happy with your frame rate. Take it from me, there was a time where I'd tinker to try to maximize this or that. Now, with the limited time I have to game, I just want to game, not tinker.

You clearly have zero clue on building PC's lol.. ryzen 5 5600 is a great chip.. and more than capable.. you should go watch 500 hours of linus tech tips before EVER making a performance comment on pc's again.. you fail.

Yep its not always bad, but my game has crashed 4 times in about 5 hours of time played....every time my CPU being 100% for a period just before the crash. My CPU is 6 years old (i7-7700K) and clearly this game (and many other modern games) just needs a more modern processor. High usage isn't the issue here...its continual 100% usage that is....sometimes the answer is upgrade. It's not the games fault

Actually I have have a ps and is capped at 30 fps, of course it's going to work that way bozo, so wrong answer by your side, anyway... how can you explain a game like red dead 2 runs without any problem in both pc and consoles?, to me that seems like a poor statement. listen, the finals is not a bad game and most of you guys think we're attacking the developers or some shi, no, we just want them to continue Developing the game, cause' yeah, that's what developers do, and solve some optimization issues that could mean many more players into the game and not heating my cpu 3 times more than red dead 2 does haha.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X and RTX 3060Ti.
I'm glad my CPU is water cooled because when I launch the game, is always at 90% throtle at all times.
