Does anyone actually notice the "movement speed nerf"?
EDIT:

It's been established there is no real change to movement speed. But it's not just FOV either. This explains why so many players claimed the same issue. There are a multitude of factors I overlooked / didn't notice, likely to reduce "clunky" movement. That as a side-effect decreased the perceived speed of movement. Climbing animations are a lot smoother, making them feel slower compared to the short pause followed by quick ascent it was before. And some animations were changed to sync better with your own footsteps, likely being slower to match the steps.

END OF EDIT

I am struggling to understand how and why the review bomb about sluggish movement started. I feel zero difference between beta and now. And comparing footage from the beta with my gameplay now shows no perceivable difference.

I can't imagine so many bad reviews come from the fact people forget to set their FOV back to the value it was in the beta, and just assume the movement got nerfed. So I'm kind of going insane trying to figure out where this all came from, since I can't find anything about it online. Which could imply the original batch of reviews was started by one person using a multitude of accounts. And others just followed those to follow the trend.

Valid concerns like the lack of Oceanic servers, details about monetization, and opinions on balance I'm not concerned by.

Completely possible I'm missing something or people just don't realize FOV reset after the beta, and directly relates to the feeling of your movement speed.

A small addition: Some reviews mention longer delays in climbing animations, but I don't notice those either in comparison to beta. And FOV doesn't really affect that I think. Which might imply those are written by the same person making the same mistake in several reviews.

Any of your observations are welcome.

We have been investigating your feedback on the feel of the movement from Open Beta to now. It’s been hard to pinpoint because there was no change in the movement system or the movement speed between the two tests. But in our research, we believe we may have found the problem.

We have identified a few things that might be causing everyone to experience the gameplay differently. In the past month, we have made small adjustments to animations, sounds, and settings that, in combination, may be giving the feeling of slower movement — especially in light and medium archetypes. Settings were reset as well, so FOV is defaulted to 71, which can have a huge impact on how the game feels.

We’re working on rebalancing some of the changes. For your part, changing your FOV can be really helpful, and of course – waiting for the next patch so that we can see if things are better or if there is more work to be done.

As we have always said, live games take constant iteration. Your feedback is so valuable to us. We want to thank all the kind people here who took the time to explain what they were experiencing nicely, in detail so we could learn more.

then its only you, the game feels seriously slow now, light classes stand no chance in the tiniest combat scenarios and heavies are even slower, and thus the best class - you cant outmaneuver as a light anymore.

bro, no, I literally put my fov at the highest value - and the game still feels slow, besides, with the other mentioned changes the game IS slower, but maybe not in a common sense. Hope they revert these changes.

No, just FOV was decreased.

I think you're the one that's slow then. Game seems like beta to me just with Las Vegas now.

I disagree.

Not a beta player but yes, this game feels violently stiff. Can't make the simplest jumps 1m jumps even with a run-up and the camera sensitivity is so terribly low even maxed that I can't so much as turn around without great effort let alone track a ♥♥♥♥♥ up light doing the apex dance.

Good thing we can have different opinions but sadly, mine are facts. Myself and a majority of players haven't noticed a change since beta (except the FOV being defaulted to 71 when it was 90-100 in beta). Maybe you're going through the Mandela Effect??

lower fov = higher fps, fyi for those who do not know this or do not understand what the devs were stating to you, they are referring as the beta didnt have as much visually and other aspects i.e sound and more, now that its live you have to consider that the games now rendering more specifics then initially offered via beta game play, this is probably reason your maybe not getting fully if this was an issue at hand, lowering graphic settings then bringing higher fov maybe a tad bit of help but remembering that your gpu/cpu is now rendering more in live then it was in beta.....

You shouldn't use logic or facts here. Best just to speak to most people here like they're an infant, you get your point across better.

There's like every two threads and people have this same complain. I like how everyone is like just change your FOV, most of people change it naturally as game resets every beta and well I wish I have not eaten all those burgers.

Yep, its fine you believe that, i still believe that the animations change and smaller things they did had a profound effect on my gameplay. So, I disagree :)
