Random freezes and crashes, "The application has hung"

Anyone else having random crashes in this pattern? At completely unrelated moments the game will freeze for a minute, then crash with the message "Application Hang Detected: The application has hung and will now close. We apologize for the inconvenience."
I tried putting -d3d11 as a launch option but it doesn't seem to make a difference. My specs are: RTX 3060, i3 10100f, 16GB RAM. Any ideas?

are you monitoring your CPU temps? this game is over utilizing CPU to a point a lot of people are having overheating issues.

Alright, I seem to find a solution, I've been playing for two hours with no issues (before, it would crash after about 5 minutes ingame)
I did two things in my last troubleshooting attempt: updated Nvidia drivers (duh), and disabled steam overlay, because I read someone say this game doesn't like overlays, well maybe that was just it. Also, I am still using my -d3d11 launch command

Hey I've been having the same issue, and every time I click it the game would shut down, but the thing is you don't have to click it. So I just keep playing after moving the notification over to my second monitor that way its not in the way of me playing.

+1, I get it on steam deck a few seconds after loading into the main menu

Make sure you are NOT running the game in proton experimental it should just run without adjusting anything, I have been able to run the game. That is until my steam deck decided to no longer charge :(

Having this issue as well. I can longer play the game because I get suspended for my game crashing. Sad to uninstall because I really enjoyed the game.

Switching to Proton Hotfix fixed everything on steam deck for me
