Remove the Stun Gun
There's no counter for it and it quite literally prevents you from playing the game.

It would be different if there was some kind of effective counter for this thing, but there isn't.

The loop for the stun gun is this right now: get stunned, stop being able to move to find cover or anything to protect you from the follow-up shots/stabs (because you by forcing you back to your primary, you can't drop a shield or go invisible or anything), and end up getting shot/stabbed to death two seconds later as you flail about in futility.

It even prevents you from ADSing, so when you're forced back to your primary, there's just... No hope at that point. You're not going to equal the damage output needed to beat the TTK of whoever stunned you, so you're dead the second you're stunned.

The Stun Gun is basically a free kill button, and the devs should just remove it entirely. It's unfixable.

"Literally" still lets you turn and shoot, and this isn't a 1v1 game. The effective counter is turning around and shooting the Light, along with being near a teammate. You don't need cover, you need to turn around and fire. If your only reaction to getting shot in the back is to run and hide, you need to unlearn that and get more aggressive.

You can totally out-dps and beat the TTK of whoever stunned you as long as you're not using a melee weapon, because the only class with the stun gun has the least HP in the game, and they have to switch back to their primary after getting the stun off.

It's a single-target root. Fire back.

Do you not know English or do you just struggle with reading comprehension? When you can't ADS, your TTK is SEVERELY reduced, while their TTK is unimpeded. It then becomes a losing "race" 98% of the time, because they can ADS and vastly decrease the TTK compared to you. It's over in two seconds, and congrats, you're now waiting 15 seconds to respawn.

It's not about "running and hiding." It's that the stun makes fighting a losing strategy. The weapon switching the light has to do takes a trivial amount of time, and sure, they have the least health, but it doesn't matter at all because you can barely knick them when you are stunned, because the guns and DPS are that ridiculously bad if you're not ADSing.

Go play heavy. Equip the Lewis gun. Get stunned, and you will lose that fight 98% of the time. Ok, go equip the SA then. Light will just stay outside your range, so your shotgun shots are now more of a light breeze than deadly buckshot. Flamethrower? Same problem, no range. MGL? Good luck landing those shots. Sledge? Lmao.

And I would turn around and rocket them, but the game forces you into a primary weapon when stunned. Oh, so that's another good point; you are *also* often forced to switch weapons while the Light is switching.

It doesn't matter what weapon the Light is using against you in that stunned scenario. You will lose 98% of the time, and that is bad game design.

Your TTK is severely reduced to what just happens to still kill Light faster than they can kill you. Especially on Heavy. If they're using a shotgun, you have very little to worry about, if they're not, you can still probably kill them in time. If not, or you trade? Whatever, you're a Heavy, you're almost guaranteed to get an instant revive.

It's also ironic that you talk about reading comprehension, since you conveniently skipped over that whole part where I talked about having a team. Do you solo a lot as Heavy? Don't do that. You get stunned, then just callout or ping the guy. Regardless of whether you can handle the 1v1, that Light still dies. This isn't a 1v1 game.

i think giving the stun gun less range would be the best option for now
mccluckers Jan 5, 2024 @ 11:55am
my opinion is that stun guns should be effective but require more skill to use. remove the 12 meter range, 10 was enough i think. i think the 100% accurate hipfire at all times should be removed. and/or I think it should have a brief charge up time. this would make it so you dont just click and instantly have an advantage. you have to deliberately plan to stun someone... you can't just whip it out and click to get an edge.

The thing is, Light is meant to make snap decisions like that. Nerfing its range is probably justified, but making them also need a charge time or ADS if they want to get a hit is probably going too far. They usually don't have much time to get it off to begin with, nerfing it that hard would just cause people to take it off.

Which is what the OP wants anyway, but still, I think gadgets should stay viable if they're going to be in the game. There's already too many that do basically nothing, like Light's motion sensor.

Stun gun AND invisibility needs to be removed from the game. Both are broken by themselves but when they're combined they're OP and utterly unfun to play against.

They are concepts which cannot be properly balanced and they need to cut their losses and delete them.

Anyone who defends them is just using the abilities as a crutch and is not good enough to play without them.

i think the stun lasts too long for what it does personally, even in a group i think it is underrated how powerful that disabling effect is. if you're alone it's death (alright warranted tbh), if you're with your team you might live provided they miss or get shredded. if the light has any backup whatsoever it goes back into straight death tier. Backup from their own team or another enemy team is enough to make that movement speed and slowed turn death damning. If you manage to survive because they made a poor decision (like attacking you with no backup plan), chances are anyone else can clean you up. you're a detriment to the team as well, especially if they want to regroup/move literally anywhere.

if they want it to greatly slow turning, greatly slow movement, prevent ADS, and prevent interacting with anything (like revives or gadgets), then it should DEFINITELY last like 2.5 seconds max. or give it a longer cooldown, or reduce said effects. But having all at once makes it kinda overtuned and super annoying (this would happen regardless).
