Mouse disconnecting issue
This issue just started happening now and I cant find a fix

Mouse: Logitech G502

The following are potential fixes that I found online which haven't worked for me

  • resetting my computer
  • mouse plugged into USB3
  • adding '-d3d11' launch option on steam
  • closing down my Logitech application
  • changing the mouse polling rate
  • verifying game
  • set resolution method to TAAU and put it down to 33 (lowest option for me)

Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
GPU: GTX 1060 3gb

Does anyone else know of another fix I can try?

i have the same issue with a different mouse (razer naga trinity) but i think it relates to a bigger problem that disconnects all your USB devices, the mouse is just often the one that locks up until the driver resets.

Whats your motherboard, CPU and GPU if I may ask?

The issue is only with my mouse for some reason. I haven't had any issues with my headphones, mic or keyboard disconnecting. I tried to play with some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheap HP mouse that i had laying around and it works with no disconnect but its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mouse and id rather not use it. I will edit my post with my PC specs

I have a suspicion it might be a chipset related issue.
Im on B550 as well (GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO V2) with a 5900X.

I sadly havent found a fix for it yet, it seems super random as well. Sometimes it locks up every 5 seconds or so and sometimes It doesnt happen the whole match. Different keyboards did seem to solve the issue sometimes, but not reliably.

That's a shame, I played during the open beta and didn't have any issues. I've also been playing since release and haven't had any issues. For some reason i launched the game today and right away was having mouse disconnecting issues. I thought it was a problem with my mouse but my friend said he was having the same issue a couple weeks ago with his mic disconnecting but it randomly fixed itself. At this point i think i just gotta wait until the devs release a fix for it. But for now im willing to take suggestions on how to fix it if anyone has any potential fixes that i havent tried yet.

I looked into the issue a bit.

So its confirmed that our chipset (AM4) has USB issues. (You can google it, its all over the internet). It only affects a "small percentage" of users and its hard to track down since its seems very hardware combination + silicon lottery related. And outside of THE FINALS my USB devices never ever disconnected or had problems once.

So its probably HW + SW that causes the issue.

A few suggested fixes that I found:

1. Do not use the front USB ports of your case.
2. unplug any USB HUBs and only directly connect necessary devices into the motherboard usb ports in the back.
3. Update your BIOS and chipset drivers to the latest version. (get them from your motherboard suppliers official website) (some of them specifically mention USB Stability fixes, this fixed the issue for some users, but not all)
4. If its only a specific USB device that disconnects / Fails: Go to device manager and find the USB Device, then right click -> Properties -> Power Management -> Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is DISABLED.

I have tried these solutions now and will play some games tomorrow and see if it fixes it for me, let me know how it goes for you :)

Alright so i have tried all of the 4 steps and im still getting the issue

1. My USB3 ports (which many people have recommended to use) are all in the back and i have all my devices connected to them.
2. I only have my mouse, headphones, and keyboard currently connected. Issue is still only happening on the mouse.
3. My BIOS and chipset hasn't been updated since 2021 so i thought for sure that would fix it but after updating it this morning the problem still occurs.
4. The property "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is greyed out and disabled by default for my mouse so that cant be the issue.

Unfortunately this issue is still occurring. After some more testing it seems to happen a lot more often when i spin my mouse faster (trying to do a 360 in game) but with slow and gradual mouse movements it does not disconnect. Unfortunately since this game is an FPS, quick mouse movements are required.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out. I really thought the BIOS update would fix my problem because of how outdated it is but there seems to be something else involved and I cant figure it out. At this point I'm sure its a SW issue that the dev team needs to address on their end so ill be waiting until then. By the way did these fixes work for you?

The USB problem is quite random or depends of the CPU batch you have. Never had the problem, even after updating a bios which is supposed fix it ...

Since AMD admited the problem and gave a new AGESA/CPU MicroCodeYou/Bios,
you better ask RMA on your CPU since AMD has admited it's hardware problem and they are trying to hide deffect

I have my doubts about it being an issue with my CPU because ive only encountered this issue when playing the FINALS so there is definitely a SW issues involved in this too. Also when looking through other discussions about this issue many people have stated they have the same chip set as me (B550). I have already sent Embark a support email to see if they can help with the issue, or at the very least have it listed as a bug report so it can get fixed in the future.

I got same issue with you but it still occurs.

Got USB issues as well

Im having USB issues as well. Using the -d3d11 launch option fixes it for me but the performance in dx11 is terrible. Been researching this for days and the only thing I can find is that any amd chipset under x570 (unsure if x570 is affected) has issues with 5000/3000 chips in the finals. Most people have b550s, but I have an x470 and I've seen someone with a b450 with the same issue.

Apparantly a fix thats worked for some b550 users is disabling c states and legacy usb in bios. I cant confirm because it didn't work for me on 5800x CPU, x470 motherboard, 4060ti

Possible fix:

I edited Windows power profile and changed both usb and pcie to the max power setting and my mouse disconnecting was gone

i have the same problem

That's weird windows was taking power away from your usb ports

Known Issue with AM4 Chip-set, in my experience 3700X and 5800X3D. Could be unstable IMC clock, which usually presents itself as USB dropout and WHEA errors. I would recommend lowering PCIe speeds and/or turning of XMP to see if this helps; although that would sacrifice performance. alternatively nearly all USB ports directly connected to a motherboard send and receive from the chipset, data must traverse the PCIe x4 link from CPU to chipset, via re-drivers and PCIe Switches. A lot can happen within that chain sadly. RMA of the mobo(most common)/cpu would be a sure-fire way to fix the issue (assuming the issue is the above). Good old Silicon Lottery...
