Whats your motherboard, CPU and GPU if I may ask?
Im on B550 as well (GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO V2) with a 5900X.
I sadly havent found a fix for it yet, it seems super random as well. Sometimes it locks up every 5 seconds or so and sometimes It doesnt happen the whole match. Different keyboards did seem to solve the issue sometimes, but not reliably.
So its confirmed that our chipset (AM4) has USB issues. (You can google it, its all over the internet). It only affects a "small percentage" of users and its hard to track down since its seems very hardware combination + silicon lottery related. And outside of THE FINALS my USB devices never ever disconnected or had problems once.
So its probably HW + SW that causes the issue.
A few suggested fixes that I found:
1. Do not use the front USB ports of your case.
2. unplug any USB HUBs and only directly connect necessary devices into the motherboard usb ports in the back.
3. Update your BIOS and chipset drivers to the latest version. (get them from your motherboard suppliers official website) (some of them specifically mention USB Stability fixes, this fixed the issue for some users, but not all)
4. If its only a specific USB device that disconnects / Fails: Go to device manager and find the USB Device, then right click -> Properties -> Power Management -> Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is DISABLED.
I have tried these solutions now and will play some games tomorrow and see if it fixes it for me, let me know how it goes for you :)
1. My USB3 ports (which many people have recommended to use) are all in the back and i have all my devices connected to them.
2. I only have my mouse, headphones, and keyboard currently connected. Issue is still only happening on the mouse.
3. My BIOS and chipset hasn't been updated since 2021 so i thought for sure that would fix it but after updating it this morning the problem still occurs.
4. The property "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is greyed out and disabled by default for my mouse so that cant be the issue.
Unfortunately this issue is still occurring. After some more testing it seems to happen a lot more often when i spin my mouse faster (trying to do a 360 in game) but with slow and gradual mouse movements it does not disconnect. Unfortunately since this game is an FPS, quick mouse movements are required.
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out. I really thought the BIOS update would fix my problem because of how outdated it is but there seems to be something else involved and I cant figure it out. At this point I'm sure its a SW issue that the dev team needs to address on their end so ill be waiting until then. By the way did these fixes work for you?
Since AMD admited the problem and gave a new AGESA/CPU MicroCodeYou/Bios,
you better ask RMA on your CPU since AMD has admited it's hardware problem and they are trying to hide deffect
Apparantly a fix thats worked for some b550 users is disabling c states and legacy usb in bios. I cant confirm because it didn't work for me on 5800x CPU, x470 motherboard, 4060ti
I edited Windows power profile and changed both usb and pcie to the max power setting and my mouse disconnecting was gone
