It had potential ,but since its rushed you can kinda get an idea of the devs' headspace when they allow a game to be rushed.
Also while its not a BR because its still a tournament style OBj mode its more competitive than a straight up BR which has more RnG in it which makes it less competitive by nature. If they had better servers they probably could make the map larger and one big BR and its likely tourney style in the first place because that's less stress on the servers.
If they had actually done legit betas instead of just trying to put it infront of streamers' audiences it could have came out off rip as a much better game.
Here's an example of their priorities or them and nexon. While these servers are dogS**t and having issues, they are STILL paying twitch for Pre roll and normal ad space on the site on streams. That's the kind of behavior gamers should be looking out for to let you know if a game is really going to have the support to be a good game or its a cash grab.
At this point if you seriously want to play a game similar to The finals then play Warzone's plunder mode as a sweat because the modes are very similar. The servers got the same tik rate but Warzone servers will ♥♥♥♥ the bed LESS, the game plays MORE consistant on high end systems as well, and the guns are slightly more balanced than the classes in the finals. Warzone just doesn't have the destruction that is unique to the finals, but plunder is what this game's tourney mode should have been if they had servers that could handle all the teams at once.
this game has been in closed alpha/beta for around 3 years. so to say they were lazy and only tested a single open beta is very shortsighted. also servers have been no issue on any NA server ive played on. i cant say for EU. Ive hear EU and China have had lots of issues but NA is fine. and again they had 3+ years of closed betas and alphas. but you can only do so much testing as dev until you have 20k people playing as compared to even the open beta of around like 10k. they are active and making fixes and patches weekly. this dev group also has a very long history of very good games and very good patch work and bug fixes. sounds like you are just not enjoying the game in general.
there's a difference between sending out Demos and calling it a beta Vs a real beta where you invite all sorts of different types of players and systems. By them primarily sending it to streamers on the first couple betas then opening it up to everyone on an open beta 1 month before launch is not sincerely trying to develop the game.
first off only inviting streamers severely limits to types of systems your game is going to be exposed to because the majority of streamers that got audiences are going to be on some of the best hardware so that data is practically useless.
what they did was marketing for 3 years and you don't understand the difference because that's the kind of person they want to sell to.
An actual game that went through development and the opposite of this game would be Ready or Not as it was widely available to a lot of people before they hit their fully marketed "release version" it was one of those games that you just knew about if you were an actual FPS fan.
They had the closed alpha and beta open to those who requested long ago. like me for example. again i have been testing and giving feedback for around 2-3 years now. i dont exact dates. it wasnt demos to streamers. this was closed nda alphas and betas that they have had tons of over the last year especially but sporadically over the last 3. and they did little to no marketing until the last 6 months when yeah they gave early copies to streamers. but like. what is the problem with that. the marketing and the dev teams are different teams. so i dont see a problem with marketing your game. i get the servers are down right now. but chill. it was a combo attack on them and steam. not a ton you can do about that when your game is tied to steam auth servers. any way its clear i cant convice ytou of anything and fighting on the internet is stupid. have a great night and i hope you find a game you enjoy
Also guarding your servers against attacks is again a thing you develop for . think about how many times the blizzard/activision servers get attacked that people actually see Vs how many failed attacks there are because those companies have better development and full on teams to stop them.
the fact they are getting attacked probably by some children in the Philippines does NOT help its case that it was developed well.
just because you put 3 years in doesn't mean it was 3 years well spent or they picked the right test subjects. Base on the fact you are trying to cape for them we can see the kind of non streamers they picked, people that wouldn't really hold their feet to their fire or be honest about the game OR even have an idea what to look for at each stage OR even have the awareness to ask questions like how secure are the servers against attacks or just a ton of people logging in at one time which will literally have the same effect as a DoS attack.
