Not being able to change equipment in ranked is ridiculous

Certain maps pwn certain loadouts. Not being able to have a backup spec for those maps makes those loadouts borderline unplayable and shoehorns people into meta builds. I don't see the downside to being able to respec mid match.

Can‘t you swap with what you have in your reserve pressing J? Or am I missing something?

That would require you to die and respawn, which in ranked probably means a team wipe. I wasn't even referencing counterplay but there'd be nothing wrong with that either. The way it currently is just makes certain things relative non-starters.
