My CPU is 100%'ing and then I blue screen. Help please :(

My CPU is Intel i7 9700k LGA1151. im not very good with computer parts and just recently had my graphics card upgraded to a NVIDIA 4090 ti and upgraded my ram to 64 (YES IK ITS ALOT)

I didnt have this problem in the last beta before my upgrades and im wondering if thats the issue (though i dont know why that would be an issue).

this issue happens sometimes with Overwatch 2 and Horizon 0 dawn, but i dont blue screen just my room gets super hot and my CPU ussage is kinda high (60-90%)

for Overwatch sometimes when the game gets a big update i have to mess with my settings over and over to stop it from blue screening.

ive googled this like 7 times and nobody knows how to fix it. The hours i have on it are from me playing on a laptop btw i didnt find a fix yet.

Overheating most likely, get a program to monitor your temps and act accordingly with extra fans, re-apply cooling paste and improve airflow. You can check the log file for the BSOD in event viewer.

Edit: Oh, laptop. Could always get one of them laptop coolers i guess.

Destruction is server sided in this game, and this is amazing. I heard a lot of this problem, but my mate (13700k) and me (13900k) have absolutely no problems with CPU temps. My CPU package temp is around 68°C, small spikes to 73°C on one or two p-cores. This is more than fine for 13900k.

You guys need some new cooling solution, I'd guess...

Try closing your browser when you're playing, that's the only way i'm not using 100% cpu

How long has it been that you renewed the thermal paste? Depending on how long you're having your system, it could be an indicator to renew it. And yeah, it also depends if you're playing on laptop or pc :)

Your CPU is FAAR too weak for that graphics card, I doubt you're getting even a fraction use out of it unless you're playing on 4k. This is a massive bottleneck to be fair and i'm not surprised your CPU is screaming all of a sudden.

Although even with a cpu at 100% usage it should not be overheating, either replace the thermal paste or buy a new CPU cooler, rated for 150w or higher will be good enough.
If you did change these, check if any of your cooling fans on either case or cpu aren't dead.

this is the first time ive been told this, but this is only happening on 3 games and every other game runs fine with my CPU staying way lower than 80%

and yea i should upgrade my CPU ik that i just dont know what one i should get, nor do i have the money to do that at the moment (the graphics card and ram were presents)

Is my CPU overheating causing me to blue screen? Cause if that is the reason would i still need to upgrade my cpu to play the game? or is it running at 100% fine?

I dont think i have, and now that ive typed that out i see how that might be an issue, ive had this PC for about 3-4 years and i havent touched the thermal paste.

Most of you are wrong, Its a Issue with intel CPU's and DX12 that is why its happening in some games for you.

Turn down settings, Turn off shadows or make them low.
Use V Sync
Dont use RTX use frame gen instead.

Their is a line you can put in the game parameters to make it run on dx11 too, i forget what it is though. This is a common issue for intel CPU's, I am the same. 13700K and a 4070ti - The game needs a update or optimisation.

this is the only game I own that pushes my CPU temps within thermal throttle range. I7 13700k with a corsair AIO. tbf, I probably need to clean my radiator as my idle temps are a bit higher lately than they should be, but still no other game causes this. It seems to heat it up more in loading screens and the main menu (needs a frame cap) and for whatever reason is even worse when you tab out of the game (the opposite of what it should do)

DX11 command line no longer works, games DX12 only now I'm pretty sure.

the issue is i cant even get into the game to mess with the settings, but ill try this out Horizon 0 dawn
(also whats frame gen and how do i use it?)
