They were making both at the same time. This one was progressing faster, so it's coming sooner. Do you really need it spelled out for you? Have you never worked on projects before? JFC.

The company is not big enough to do parallel projects. I think this will affect the quality of projects very much.

I'm pretty sure they have enough people or they wouldn't do this.

This game is the real reason ARC Raiders is delayed...

the "FPS as a gameshow" trope doesn't work, this game will die, bulletrun proved this

Really telling how a dev studio stays completely silent on their first IP only to show a CGI trailer of another...

Thought ARC-R looked neat, but I'm not holding my breath for either of them...

Hold on, are we really still at "A company wouldn't make a terrible mistake and crash and burn" levels of naive? After all the hundreds of abandoned, broken games.

They did explain why they are swapping the order of the release of the two games' launches through their Medium post and via the recent Nexon earnings call, so they haven't really been silent through the change. They were quiet leading up to that, probably while they were deciding if they were going to swap them.

They said last year htey have 250 game makers and I'd bet they have grown since then, I'm pretty sure they can manage 2 projects

This is a quote from Embark Studio's blog:

"As you may be aware, Embark has several projects in development. Beyond ARC Raiders, we’re also working on a team-based first-person shooter, codenamed Project Discovery (The FInals). We shared a small tease with some early footage of the project late last year.
We’ve got a number of super talented people with ample fps experience here at Embark, and the development of Project Discovery has progressed faster than we first imagined, especially over the past few months. [...]
As such, we decided to let Project Discovery be our studio’s first game to market, pushing ARC Raiders to a 2023 release. It’s a decision that will also allow us to expand and refine the ARC Raiders experience."

What this means is that Arc Raiders' scope grew a little while The Finals was nearing completion much faster. Releasing two games at the same time is shooting themselves in the foot. Their reasoning and their decision make perfect sense.

Always funny to see random kids in steam forums talking like they would know anything about the industry. Why are you Specialists not involved in any Game (developement or managing) ? I mean all 0f you who promise game will die, their other project delayed and even the quality will fall flat because of this one and so on and so on. Do you ever start thinking before typing ? These devs put money on their projects, they know what they do, they dont need you to manage their stuff. Ofc. in the long run one of their two games will have more priority, depending on which one gives them more money.
