Run eXceed windowed using DXWnd

Run DXWnd and click Edit > Add

Main tab
Input the game name and path to exceed.exe
Tick: Do not notify on task switch and Terminate on window close
Untick: Run in Window
Change W to 640 and H to 480

Video tab
Tick: Lock win style, Prevent Win Maximize and Recover screen mode
Untick: Emulate Win Maximize
(Change window style to modal if you don't want a window border)

Lastly, click on the DirectX tab and select None under Emulation > Renderer

I've figured out an easy way to play eXceed windowed.

Download and install DXWnd here[sourceforge.net]

Then run DXWnd and click Edit > Add

In the Main tab, input the game name and path to exceed.exe.
Under position, change W to 640 and H to 480.

Click on the Video tab and tick these two boxes under Windows handling:
Fix Window Frame Style, Prevent Win Maximize

Lastly, click on the DirectX tab and tick None under Emulation.

Click Ok and save, you should now have an eXceed entry saved in the DXWnd list.

Start the game by double clicking the new entry.

These are the settings that got it working for me, Play around with these settings to better suit your needs.

Just wanted to bump this to add that turning on "Simulate 16BPP desktop" under Color Management on the Video tab while also following trodam's instructions managed to get the game running windowed for me

It might just be my graphics card, but my framerate is about half of what it should be when I try and use this fix. (30 as opposed to 60/61)

Does anyone have updated instructions on how to handle this? Some of the options are not in the most recent version of DXWnd -- such as Fix Window Frame Style and Simulate 16BPP desktop.
